One more note:  John WILL be appearing in The Living Last Supper as Andrew the Apostle again this Holy Week!  7:30pm tonight, tomorrow and hopefully (see how he feels when they take the pump off)  Wednesday at Nativity.  He gave a very moving performance yesterday at dress rehearsal.  [...]

Good News!

We got good news this morning!  The spots detected on the CT Scan are non-cancerous!  SO all of the results from the scan are positive as it showed the cancer shrinking.  Dr. Cohen actually jumped up and hugged John!  Chemo is back to every 2 weeks with a little tweaking to maybe make things a little more comfortable.  [...]

Good news!

“No heaven can come to us unless our hearts find rest in today. Take heaven! No peace lies in the future which is not hidden in this present instant. Take peace! The gloom of the world is but a shadow. Behind it, yet within reach, is joy.” -Fra. Giovanni, 1513 A.D.[...]

CT Scan...

Tomorrow John goes for the CT Scan that will tell how well the chemo is doing it's job so far.  Given the grim diagnosis we received on Nov. 28th, I wasn't at all sure he would actually make it to see Tim's final performance at RBC in the spring musical but he did indeed make it!  Praying hard for good results tomorrow, that all the hardship he is enduring from chemo is paying off!  We will have results on Monday when we meet with Dr. Cohen.  [...]

6th Round

We met with John's biggest cheer leader before chemo session #6.  Dr. Cohen said John's blood work was good and his weight stable.  CA 19-9 count is down again which is a good indication that the tumors are shrinking.  He took responsibility for John feeling horrible for so long; he said that means chemo is working and that he will keep throwing the strong stuff his way for as long as he can withstand it.  He pointed out that the alternative is obviously worse.  Based on how John was feeling before chemo, we have to agree with him.  The cancer was definitely spreading quickly.[...]

Hanging On

Sorry for delay in posting.  It was a rough week, to say the least, but he's hanging on!  Fog is lifting a little today.  From past experience we know that he will feel better each day until Chemo starts again.  Monday will be his 6th Chemo session then the following week he will have a PET Scan (not CT Scan).  Based on the results Dr. Cohen said we can talk about "quality of life"....we will have a lot to talk about then!![...]
