The fight begins

It was exactly a month ago when the diagnosis was confirmed; breast cancer.  It was several weeks later when it became official, Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
It has been a whirlwind of a month filled with testing, scans, biopsies and appointments. Tomorrow, my mother will begin her first round of chemotherapy. It is our goal to shrink the tumors enough to make her comfortable, and give her a chance to sit back and enjoy life. She will have chemotherapy once every three weeks, for a total of six sessions. One day, one fight at a time. We smiled together when we were calculating it out. In April the final round will be done. Just in time for the snow to have melted and the road to camp to be clear. I know in my heart that this spring mom will sit on the porch in front of that little cabin, feel the sun on her face and the black flies in her ear.
We cannot thank everyone enough for the continued support!  The outpouring of love from friends and family amaze us more and more everyday. Please know that not a message goes unread. I would like to let everyone know how much it all means to my mother and me.
Visitors are always welcome. We do ask that you call or text first. There are some days that mom is just too tired or sick, but know that it is not for any reason other than it’s just not a good day. I will continue to post messages and keep everyone updated on her journey. Please feel free to send wishes and love here on this page, as I know she will be reading all of your messages as she undergoes treatments.
Remember to cherish every day, remember to let those you love know how much they mean to you, and remember that life is beautiful. Thank you all for joining us on this journey.

love to you all,

Thank you for doing this page. I had no idea Susan was fighting this battle. If the chemo causes a hair loss, let me know and I'll happily knit some hats in the most colorful yarn I can find. Hugs to all of you.
