It has been over a month since I have written, but I guess no news is good news. Mom has finished round 4 of chemo and she has done so with elegance and grace. Her sickness has been kept at bay and she is feeling quite well. It has been an adjustment to her in so many ways. She finds herself with free time, and is still learning the art of relaxing. I guess when you have worked your whole life, free time is a strange thing. She also has had to get use to understanding that her body is tired, and that is normal. It’s no easy task fighting off the evil “c” word.
This last week we got some amazing news. The tumors have responded exceptionally well to her treatments, and we are waiting for a surgical consult in Portland for a possible mastectomy. We will keep you posted on her fight. There are no words to describe how much of a fighter mom is. I always knew it growing up, but I am seeing first hand that she is stronger than I could have ever imagined. Thank you to everyone in this community. The outpouring of love and support fuels the fighter in all of us.
