A New Hope

Dear Family and Friends,

Great news, I am in remission! I have been given a second chance at life, and I am incredibly grateful.  Your support and prayers, some wonderful medical care, and divine intervention, have meant all the difference.  My blood cell counts are back to normal, and the doctor is so confident that he has said the port can be surgically removed. This was the best possible outcome.

After receiving the good news, the doctor and I talked about how to be a long-term cancer survivor. My plan will be to eat well, lose weight, exercise more, and have a better work-life balance with less stress.  I will have regular medical follow-ups for the rest of my life to watch for any signs that the cancer has returned. This will principally involve blood tests to watch for a drop in my blood counts to below the normal range.  There are still some restrictions on my travel for now because my immune system is still technically in recovery. And it will take a while for my energy level to return to full strength. The body is still healing, and I will stil take a nap as needed.

After all of that, I thanked Doctor Huynh for saving my life. And that's when I got a little emotional.  Some of the most poignant moments in my life have involved either good and bad medical outcomes for loved ones, and now for me.   I know there are many, including my folks and other relatives, who have been watching over me.  Today is a prayer answered.  Going forward, I will live each day as a special gift, and resolve to be a better person.

I would like to thank all of you for your steadfast support along this journey. I am the luckiest guy in the world have such wonderful people in my life.

With heartfelt thanks,
