Healing

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you all for your support and prayers. I am slowly healing from nasal surgery and am making progress. I have been sleeping a lot, and regret not having posted sooner. I have good support here. Thanks to Lisa for the post hope update and Kim for visiting with groceries.

I am keeping my eyes on the prize. In a few weeks I should be breathing much better. Given the deviated septum, turbinates, and cysts, the surgeon asked how I was able to breath through my nose. It turns out not very well. He also found a serious infection going on in there, so overall it was the right thing to do. The surgery was delayed by the cancer and then by the flu, but the third time was the charm. But I took no chances and scheduled it for May the 4th!

If you or someone your know has a serious sinus infection every year, then you may want to ask your doctor to take a look to see if you have sinus blockages. I really wish I had known to ask about this years ago. It is a simple matter of plumbing. By removing blockages, it can really improve your quality of life. This surgery will also reduce my risk of developing pnuemonia in the future.

On Friday I will see the doctor for a check-up and will likely have the splints removed. So that is the next milestone. Until then I will be resting at home.

Oh, and for those with an inquiring mind, the surgeon said that they were fresh out of Robert Redford noses and the Robert De Niro nose was not covered by my insurance, so he had to leave the Jim Galvin nose in place... :)

Thanks to all of you for being in my life! I am a very lucky guy.

Jim

Yay for not so new noses but the new ability to breathe out of them!! Glad you are healing Jim and in good spirits. Continue with the good care! Always with you in thoughts and prayers, Tim and Roseanne P. S. I have not had a single sinus or allergy episode since moving here to CO. Maybe that is the other answer 😳

Thanks Roseanne! Tell Tim that I have to use the “nasal irrigation system” a.k.a. Water boarding, several times per day now. I am even coming to like it. Maybe Stockholm syndrome has set in... Hope you and yours are all doing well. Let me know when you visit SD again.

Lucky for us that you Jim Galvin nose is the one laced with good humor! No doubt when all the inflammation subsides and you can take a breath of unobstructed air, you will feel like a new man and wonder why you were even contemplating a Robert Redford nose! Continue to take it easy and let us know if we can do anything for you!

I'm glad you are on the road to recovery. You can "breathe easy" knowing that we're taking care of things at work, but please let us know what else we can do to make your life at home more comfortable for the next few days.

I think the Jim Galvin nose may really become a hit now! I am infinitely grateful that you were able to have this surgery and we’ll be glad to have you back in the office, breathing on all cylinders when you’re rested and feeling up to it.

Happy to hear you are doing well and resting up! TMZ reports that the Jim Galvin nose is all the rage, so the Roberts (Redford and DeNiro) have got nothing on you. Continue to heal and take it easy. Take care, Sarah
