I began to realize lately, that amongst all the suffering, there are some who are suffering more than the others. This may seem obvious, but it’s hard to see the sickest amongst a very sick people. The people here barley have enough food to eat, but some are barely surviving and eat once a day if they are lucky. Everyone here needs cloths, but some have none, just a ripped up pair of shorts to cover with. Everyone has trouble getting medicine and suffers because of it, but some families have members who have died over simple infections that two dollars worth of amoxicillin could have cured. I was praying for these, to help them, to be a vessel, an ambassador of Jesus, to show that He cares and is still pursuing those He loves so much.[...]
It can be hard, overwhelming even, to live in a place of such poverty. Every person, every child and every animal I come into contact with has countless needs and countless family members with countless needs. It is impossible to meet 1/100th of the needs within a square mile of where I sleep. It is not just the overwhelming poverty that has begun to feel heavy, but I am viewed as someone who can meet all the needs because I have an endless supply of money. This is the cultural view of American’s and it is a warped. There is no distinction between a retired American and a poor missionary, we are all viewed the same. When I give everything I have, the people never see, or don’t choose to see, the sacrifice it took to give to all those people and children. They don't see the sweaty nights because I had no fan. They don't see that I have been sleeping on the floor for two years because I have no bed. They don’t see that I have no place to put my close and I eat oatmeal two times a day every day. Those people I can't help, because I absolutely have no more, feel as if I am holding back on them. They think I have the money to help but am not willing, this is painful![...]
Mark, or as I call him, “Mary Mark”, is a very close Filipino brother of mine. He is 32 years old and from the island of Luzon. He is currently in his last year at the school and growing everyday in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. I am amazed as Mark and I talk about Jesus. Mark speaks of someone he knows, someone he has experienced and loves! He speaks of Jesus as if he has touched to wound in His side and seen the scares on His hands. He has experienced Jesus in such a real way, that he will never be the same again.[...]
Our life continues to be defined by Caleb's accident. Just the other night Gary said, " That was before Caleb's accident so it must have been over five years ago." It made me think, "Wow, your right and what an amazing God we serve, yes an amazing God." Most of you know the start of the story, Caleb almost dying in a motorcycle accident, Caleb not dying but being left parlayed, Caleb’s second accident that fractured his neck and left him heart broken, Caleb becoming addicted to this pain medications and GOD showing up for Caleb through the ministry of U Turn For Christ.[...]
Hi everyone!
What an amazing time this crusade has been. This has been the most amazing crusade I have been a part of. The Lord moved in the hearts of the local government in Calbayog city and they allowed us to use the park in the middle of the city for the location of the crusade. This park has a large stage with stadium like seating, all made of cement. Thousands of people came to the two night crusade. When Pastor Gerry presented the Gospel and ask for those who wanted to accept the gift of salvation, every hand went in the air. My heart began to wounder which ones were serious, knowing the culture, the Filipinos will raise their hands just because others are and they want to move on to the prizes. Pastor Gerry, also knowing the culture, then asked that that those who were serious about accepting this free gift of salvation should come forward as a sign to their new commitment to Christ. As he finished his sentence the crowed of a few thousand began to split immediately. It was an amazing sight and reminded to of the parable of the Wheat and tares in Matthew chapter 13. In the end, when Jesus returns, a worldwide separation will accrue between those in The Kingdom of God and those who are not. Although this was an amazing sight, it was a time of sadness and prayer for those who hearts were hardened to the One who loves them most. Even more is the urgency to pray for the lost, because when the Lord returns the separation will be final!
The crusade is now over and the team is on their way home. Pastor Gerry has sent me and Kimy to Dumagete to spend a few days at the Calvary Chapel Bible College. I will have the opportunity to see the way they run their school, their curriculum, and their agricultural projects and get to know the brothers and sisters at the school.
Pastor Gerry has given me full authority over the school and I have placed it in the Lord's hands, that He may use it to bring Himself glory all through Asia.
The mission is clear, to make disciples of the entire world. At the school we will prepare the students and interns to go out and do just that, make disciples. We have the go ahead to travel deep into the jungle, in any direction, reaching unreached people and presenting them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We were blessed with a sound system we will use to have out reaches in the local Borongi's and we will continue to teach the men in the prison about their Lord and prepare them to teach the others in the prisons as well.
We have a lot of work to do on the school to make it presentable and comfortable again. I am looking forward to seeing the Lord work this out.
The children will also be continued to be raised up, for my heart is always with them because it is "such as these to whom the Kingdom of God belongs".[...]
Hello Everyone!
I am supper excited about the next year of ministry in the Philippines. As for my role, it has changed and I have been given much more responsibility. I was ordained by Pastor Gerry Brown a couple weeks ago and put in charge of the Philippines School of Ministry. Our vision for the school is to raise up Pastors and missionaries that are on fire for the Lord and send them out all over Asia.[...]
