A letter from Jr.

Kathy, Megan & Blake,

J.R. wrote a letter giving thanks to the supporters. This boy is special and I am blessed to be a part of his life. He has a new hope, an excitement about his future that he has not had since his leg was cut off. He carries a big burden on his shoulders to support his family now that his dad is dead. This is his drive, his passion, to provide for his family. He had lost this hope when he could no longer afford to go to school, but now this hope has been revived and he gives the credit to Jesus and is very thankful to the Lord's vessels. J.R. attended church today and is now hanging out at my house as I write this and study. It is obvious that he is looking for male guidance, a father, which he had and lost. I can't be that, but I know who can be much more, his heavenly Father and I will direct him to the comfort of the Lord as long as we are a part of each other’s life. Again, thank you Kathy, Megan and Blake for helping J.R. Here is his letter...

My Beloved Sponsor,

First of all I would like to say "hello" and "how are you?" Let me introduce myself, my name is Luisito B. De Castro Jr. I am 15 years old. I am in 2nd year high school level. I live in Borongan Eastern Samar. I have four sisters and three brothers. My mother is a single mom because my father died three years ago. She does not have a high school education, so it is very hard for her to get a permanent job.

My mother knows how to give manicures and that is my family’s income.

The time came when I met kuya Caleb. I met him at the u-turn school and when he saw me he had compassion on me. I had an interview with him and we talked and he took pictures of me. I am so thankful to God that he used kuya Caleb as an instrument. I am very thankful that you are helping me. I wish you will continue to help me until I finish my study, so that I can help my family and my brothers and sisters. I never wish to get rich, or to be prosperous, all I want is to send my brothers and sisters to school and meet the needs of my family. I had a lot of plans for my family, but sad to say, I only have one leg and I think this is my fate. There are times when I lose hope and don't feel like going to school because of what people say about my leg. But I realized that I should not listen to them and allow them to discourage me. It is always my heart’s desire to go to school, but my mother cannot support me because I have other brothers and sisters. That is why I am asking you to help me, so I can finish my studies. It's ok for me to be hungry while I am at the school, I can handle it, but I can't buy my project materials and other school supplies. This is why I need your help. I am very thankful for your help, with all my heart. What you did for me was a great help. I bought shirts, school supplies, backpack, sandals, paper and ball pen, shirt and shorts. I used the rest of the money to buy rice and for my far to school. Thank you very, very much and you are a blessing from God!

I am so grateful!

Luisito B. De Castro Jr.
