Letter from Caleb
Hello Brothers and Sisters,
I want to start this support letter by briefly thanking everyone who has supported me in the last year financially and spiritually. Not just in the last year, but in the last few years. My family and I are convinced that it is through your prayers that God has allowed me another chance to serve Him. Many of you have read through POSTHOPE.COM about the amazing ministries that have gone on in the Philippines this last year.
The Lord is working mightily in the prison ministry! When I first saw these prisoners they were rebellious, prideful and skeptical. Now, when we show up, almost all of the men are sitting down with their Bibles out eagerly waiting to hear the Word. The men do not even look the same; the Spirit of God is shining through them. We have been a part of starting bible studies in villages deep in the jungle, who would not have heard the Gospel otherwise. The most rewarding of all the ministries is the children’s ministry. This is a new ministry that the Lord blessed us with. We have up to 70 kids every Saturday come to the school. We feed them every week and teach them the Word of God. Most of these children are not part of the church and have not heard the Word of God before. The Lord is using this ministry to raise up the next generation of church leaders and members who are not controlled by the fear of the Catholic Church, but base their actions on the true, pure and unchanging Word of God.
It was not just ministry work that was supported, but my schooling and spiritual growth was supported as well. I was sent to the Philippines to study the Word and spend this time drawing near to God. During this time the Lord has healed many of the wounds that were inflicted in the last few years. Since the accident I have been broken, to the point of nothing. But now, the Lord is rebuilding me and using this time in the Philippines to do it.
With that being said, I have committed another year to be in the mission field. I will be going back to the Philippines July 10 2011 and after a couple weeks of being there I will be flying to Thailand with another missionary family. I will be helping them get settled in their new home. It is uncertain at this point how long I will be back at the school in the Philippines, but it looks like 6 more months and then I will be in Thailand the rest of the year.
As I continue my journey I have the honor and privilege of depending on God for my needs, including my financial needs. The total cost and of this year’s mission work is $10,700.00.
Here is the break down and the time lines for the needed funds.
- $2,500, 00 needed for air line expenses no later than June 11, 2011.
- $ 400.00 a month needed for schooling and room and board.
- $200.00 a month needed for ministry needs that include supporting the children’s ministry.
- $1000, 00 needed to cover personal needs and expenses.
Checks payable to: Gary Barton 3141 E Verona Rd. Palm Springs, CA 92262
All I ask is that you give as the Lord leads you to give and pray for me as the Lord prompts you to pray. I am confident that where the Lord guides He will provide. Thank you so much for all you give!
God Bless!
Caleb Barton
