Ubert

Hello brothers and sister,

I have an update about Ubert, but before I begin, I want to say that I will get a picture of him up-loaded soon

When I came back here from my two-month visit to the states, I worried about how Ubert was going to react. As the time for me to leave grew near, Ubert stopped coming around as much. When I left, he was out of town with his dad so I never said goodbye. Because of his reaction when I left, I was worried about his reaction on my arrival. On the first day of being home, Ubert was the first one over, very early in the morning and was over every day after that.

However, when I left to Thailand, he took it hard. I could tell he was sad so I explained I would be back and it would only be for three weeks. When I returned from Thailand, I saw that Ubert was acting out. Nothing like he once had, but acting tough towards me and some of the kids. He was not coming around as much and just had a hardened look on his face.

For the last week, two street kids, practically orphans, have been coming over. I have known them for a long time but they lived over by Joe and Sarah on the other side of the Borongi, so they always stayed around Joe's home. Here is an introduction to these two kids; their names are Jonel  and Raylone, they are around seven and eight years old. They live with their brother, Ariel, who is around 16 or 17 years old and another completely orphaned boy, who has no one in this world, Jason, who is around the same age as Ariel. Jonel and Rey Lone have no father and their mother is in Manila living her life with no regard for her children. So two 16 or 17 year olds and two 7 or 8 year old kids living together just trying to survive. The Lord has led Jonel and Raylone over to the school as of late and given us a chance to pour into their lives. We feed them, give them some money so all the boys can get some food and pour out love into their lives. About three days ago, they were over hanging out, Ubert, and a couple others people came over. Ubert was walking and looking like a tough guy, so I prayed that the Lord would soften him again.

I noticed that Raylone and Jonel had disappeared, so I figured they just went home. After sending Ubert up a tree to get coconuts, I found Jonel and Raylone hiding behind the kitchen. I asked them what they were doing and they said Ubert was mad at them. They were scared, so while Ubert was up the tree I snuck them through the yard in the direction of their home. The next day Jonel and Raylone were playing in the yard and when they saw Ubert coming, they went down to the beach. Ubert walked up and saw them, she picked up a broom and pretended to shoot them. I grabbed Mark, a Filipino student, and Ubert and told him that he needs to be nice to Raylone and Jonel. I reminded him that they had a hard life and he did not need to make it harder. Mark translated and Ubert agreed. Not long after I looked to the beach and I saw Ubert sitting and talking to Raylone and Jonel. I do not know what was said, but Ubert was showing them he was no longer upset.

There is more! God showed His love and mercy even more this day. Ubert took off to class after talking with Jonel and Raylone. Jonel and Raylone rarely go to school and we want them to go, but if we tell them at this point in our readership they will just take off some were else. In the afternoon, during the mid day break for school Ubert came back. When I looked at him I saw something different, his face, his countenance had softened! The Holy Spirit is working in this kid, He convicted Ubert and Ubert listened! Ubert walked up, looking softened and began to talk with Jonel and Raylone and talking turned into playing. Ubert was chasing them around the MPR and I could just see the relief on Jonel and Raylones faces as Ubert was playing with them.

At 1:30, it was time to go back to school and Ubert said that Jonel and Raylone were not going. I told them they needed to go to school, but they did not listen to me. Right then Ubert jumped in and told them to go to school, in his usual passionate way and they listened to him. Even more amazing, it was raining and Ubert was the only one with an umbrella, so he took Jonel under one arm, Raylone under the other arm and walked them to school under his umbrella! I watched Ubert walking away, holding these kids under his arms, as Jesus was holding them all. God is amazing and He is working in this kid!
Ubert was dark a year ago, he was scary. His face and eyes were dark and he had just been arrested. Even now, the police and justice system are waiting for him to turn eighteen and put him in jail for his crime. However, Ubert is not the same, he shines with the Holy Spirit of God. He is handpicked and set apart so that the glory of God will shine brightly in his life.

Blessings, Caleb
