Our Mission

Almost three years ago, we were living in a very dark place. We would watch fire lit ceremonies on the beach as the people offered sacrifices and food to their ancestors. The fear of an evil spirit called, Oswang, gripped the hearts of the people on the deepest level. They feared their lives and the lives of their children; Oswang has been given credit for many of the children's deaths. Whatever it is that has killed the young children, Satan has used the fear of Oswang to control and touchier those around.

U-Turn for Christ was absolutely a forbidden place. The Catholic Church forbid anyone to be involved and most people had no interest anyways. The community didn't like us; people would stare aggressively at us and spit on the ground as we walked by. The children would hold up their middle finger and say the two words that come with the finger. There was no light at all on, only darkness and we could feel the oppressing power of the evil one.

But we have experienced a change that only God can produce. We no longer see the ceremonies on the beach. The fear of Oswang has seriously lessened due to the knowledge that God is the creator and everything else bows as a creature; and the knowledge that the creator is deeply in love with them and will protect them. For three years we have raised up a whole generation of children. Many of the kids are in their first and second year of high school and a big group will be heading into their first year. These kids are heading to this battle ground equipped with the knowledge of the Gospel. The Catholic Church has lightened up on us because we give them no chance to have something to say. We bless when cursed, pray when persecuted, give more when taken advantage of and the people have seen how hypocritical any accusation against us is. And just recently, we have been acknowledge by the local government. We are now allowed to enter the local elementary school every Friday to teach the kids about Jesus, IN A PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING. This has always, in all the Philippines, been exclusively for the priests and the Catholic Church. And lastly, we have taken a broken down school that had forgotten its purpose and its reason for existing and re-created it. We have changed every aspect of the schedule, ministry plan and curriculum, centring them on Christ and God's redemptive work in Him.

This village has dramatically changed in the last three years, but this is only the beginning. As the kids begin to graduate in the next couple years we will take them and raise them up as Gospel teachers, preachers and missionaries. They will be fully equipped to teach the Gospel and make disciples of their own. This will not just change this village but we plan on reaching all the Philippines and beyond with the Gospel message, because the "Good News" about Jesus Christ, alone, has the power to change a man’s heart and transform people and villages.

However, this has not come without sacrifice and has by no means been easy. Our living conditions are some of the worst in the world. We get wet when it rains as the water flies into the room and as we pump water by hand with no cover. We have to walk long distances to get a ride into town and then walk around there because we have no motor bike. We have had no refrigerator to store food and the hunger is bad, but the lack of variety is worse, causing me to just not eat. The foreign sicknesses have ravaged my body and reeked havoc. I have not had a bed in the three years I have been here because I have no place to live or put one. I have been homeless, sleeping on the ground of a small study room for two years, with the co-director of the school. We are now sleeping on the ground of a very unfinished house and when it comes down to it, nobody here cares at all, but view me as a well off, wealthy American. This is the view of those in our ministry, fellow pastors and church members that look right past the suffering and scarifies that is right in front of their faces and instead tag me as a rich American who has everything. This is very painful and has been a great struggle.

But our hearts still have joy, our mouths still speak praises and our faces smile because God is much better than any suffering of the body and we have Him! Yes we have Him and more of Him and more of Him and the more of Him we have the more the joy of the Lord overflows our hearts.

This is our mission...
