TN Princess

I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia when I was 13 years old, and almost 10 years later will be having microvascular decompression surgery (MVD) in hopes of living without medication and facial pain!

Hello! My name is Noelle (nickname Ellie), and this is a place for me to look back on my MVD experience, keep family and friends updated, and hopefully help out others who are going through a similar experience.

I started my first blog when I did the Disney College Program (ellieearnsherears.blogspot.com). I love going back and reading through the archives to look at past memories. I was also able to help people visiting the parks, and other people doing the program through the blog. I hope to replicate that here!

While I'm talking about my reasoning for writing a blog, I feel the need to explain why I picked its name! My site is called "TN Princess" for a few reasons:

1. I love Disney. A lot.

2. The hospital where I am getting my MVD is about 15 minutes away from Disneyland, so naturally I had to include some Disney magic in my blog. I hope to visit Downtown Disney during my recuperation period a couple of times!

3. Disney princesses are known for their determination and hope. They fight for what they believe in, and they always do it while singing a song! I can really relate to all of these traits. They also rely on encouragement from their friends - and I have been grateful to have a lot of that in my life. I am so thankful for all of the people who have supported me along the way.

Many of my friends and family know that I have trigeminal neuralgia (TN), and some know that I have been going through testing to see if I would be a candidate for MVD surgery. I am both relieved and nervous to say the I have been approved for surgery. It is scary and exciting at the same time. Getting the surgery means no more medications, and no more pain. Yay!

This blog is a way for me to document my MVD experience and hopefully make a small difference in the process! Thank you for stopping by and I hope you learn something new!
