Had my first nonmedical visitor!

It was the dish network guy! In reality, my sister Patty was coming for lunch, but since he showed up before she died, he counts as my first nonmedical visitor! (Thursday)

Friday off we go to the heart surgeons office for a 1 week out of the hospital check up. The tech that came to take my vitals must have been  new to this area. He asked about this heart pillow I have (will try to load pic) it's red with white writing saying Heart Hospital at Bronson with the picture of a real body heart on the front. I use this in the car between the seatbelt and my body, hold it when I sneeze, cough, whatever. It still goes everywhere with me. Anyway, they tech asks if I bought it or something. Obviously he didn't know I had major heart surgery. I had to think of an answer. Finally I stated the truth (always best?) "It was a gift with purchase!" He just kind of looked at me. Kevin and I are both nodding our heads, yep...Gift with purchase!

Christi the PA comes in to check and see how I'm doing. This is meds, vitals, adapting, pain, sleep, everything and check my incisions. I'm moving along right on schedule...Yea! I have very little pain but one strange thing I'm telling her is I feel my body rocking sometimes and finally figured it out....It's my heart beating! I've never had that like this before! It's rocking me as I type. Intresting and reassuring. Then Kevin blurts out, ...."Is it too late to pull the plug?" WHAT!!! I have to remind him that I'm sitting across from him alive and coherent! Then the three of start laughing and Kevin says he's brought the paperwork and Christi and I are like...NO!!

So we/I laugh and joke about my experiences daily. You can't be serious 100% of the time eventho this was a very serious operation. I am extremely thankful of the love and support of all my friends and family. Many friend I've known for so many years have become my family.  I'm thankful that I will be able to be active again. Many people don't know because I don't always say, but before my heart started bothering me, I was extremely active.  But for about he last 25 years all I've done is walk and a little jogging. In reality I've waited for this for 25 years. You can't just have this surgery done, you have to qualify. I finally qualified!

Enough seriousness... Hugs, and thank  you for being there for me, Tracy

I've thought about that aspect of your life a lot over that past many years - I remember when you skied competitively! You may not want to do that again, but how wonderful that you'll be able to do more fun things. In about 8 or 9 months, anyway. Keep up the good healing - nothing helps like walking and laughter.

No doubt Kevin is taking good care of you; he makes you (and everybody else), laugh which is good! Take it slow and listen to the doctors. Your entire body will take time heal, and now your heart is no longer broken<3. Love you Tracy!
