How You Can Help
After an emergency room visit on 2/20/16 and a battery of tests, doctors confirmed that Shannon has a locally advanced cancer in her lower abdomen. Now that treatment has started and a general plan is in place, Shannon and I are looking at how this cancer diagnosis is affecting us financially.
Even with health insurance, cancer treatment is expensive. With the unexpected closing of Shannon’s store at the Mall of America and the inability to teach her dance classes our household income has been reduced. Our long range plans include focusing on those things that will help Shannon to get healthy, while downsizing and economizing in other areas. Your financial support is needed and will be much appreciated.
Shannon has chosen an intensive course of treatment for the next 10 to 12 months, including aggressive chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and then follow-up care. She is attacking this cancer on all fronts using both medical and alternative therapies. Shannon and I are full of hope and we won’t stop fighting this cancer.
Shannon’s goal is to get healthy, live long and well, get back to work and, especially, to get back to dancing!
Your contributions will enable this by helping us to pay for the cost of providing for Shannon’s wellbeing and comfort while she goes through treatment and deals with the side effects. These include rent for the apartment (which is much better suited than our house as a place for healing), special meals, added housekeeping expenses, transportation to treatment and appointments, over the counter medications, personal care products and non-traditional cancer therapies such as acupuncture, massage and others.
I have one singular goal and it is, get Shannon healthy, whatever it takes.
Shannon and I are grateful for the outpouring of love, support, prayers and well wishes. It is truly humbling to know that you are loved by so many friends, family, dancers near and far, business associates and even strangers. There is no way for me to express what it has meant to have all of you pulling for Shannon and showering her with cards, gifts, social media messages, and yes, cat videos.
My heart is full of hope, love and gratitude but most of all a determination. A determination to give Shannon ever resource and tool that she will need to accomplish her goal of health, life and dancing. Thank you for your support.
