Going Home!

Tonight is Brian’s last night at Mercy Fairfield! He’s being released tomorrow from the in-patient rehab center. The past 28 days have been a true journey and Brian couldn’t be happier to be going home. Today he said that it will be bittersweet to leave because of all that has happened there and because he has really connected with some of the people that he has met, but he is grateful to be going home. I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say that we are overjoyed as well :) The next steps are outpatient rehab and selecting a prosthetic. He has already mastered maneuvering with a wheelchair and can get around just fine on his own. He has worked tirelessly this past week and half and has much to show for it. We are so proud of him! The amount of love and support that you have shown to Brian is overwhelming. However, continued support through this next phase of transition and change is going to be important. Please don’t stop sending messages, calling, reaching out, visiting, etc!
As always, thank you for your love, support, and prayers! And Praise God for His continued love and favor![...]

The Welcome Sign is Lit :)

Brian is all settled in on the PT floor. Monday-Friday is pretty hectic for him with the therapy schedule, but he would love visitors on Saturdays and Sundays! He asks that you call before coming just as a courtesy and to make sure that he feels up to it (and isn't resting).[...]

Rehab (for real this time)!

Brian has officially been discharged and moved to rehab!! He has already started doing some PT (physical therapy) and the therapists have commented on how quickly he picks things up. He is able to do things that it usually takes patients weeks to master! We continue to give God the praise for each step forward. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers because this program is intense. They told him he will most definitely be tired at the end of the day but that it will be worth it :)[...]

The Golf Scramble Benefit!

Hi all, Brian's white blood cell count is slowly dropping!  He will likely be starting rehab tomorrow or Monday.  In the meantime, spread the word and get signed up for the Golf Scramble Benefit that Jeff Wyler Nissan is hosting![...]

Setbacks are minor when you're this blessed...

Brian's start to rehab has been pushed back a bit.  The doctors want to make sure that there are absolutely no concerns before discharging him (which makes sense).  His white blood cell count is up, so they're addressing that before signing what they call his "ticket to ride."  Keep lifting him up in prayer.  We were excited to move forward, but like I said, setbacks are minor when you're this blessed! [...]

Tomorrow is “R” Day!

The nearly two week stay at Mercy Fairfield Hospital has come to an end! Brian is being discharged and will begin an intensive rehabilitation program tomorrow! We are excited about the move because it is a huge mile marker for Brian. The road to recovery is not short and it will be a challenge. However, we know that with God and with continued love and support from all of us, Brian will be more than successful![...]

Strong Man PT

Today was Brian's first day of Physical Therapy!  He said it feels good to get out of bed for a change :)  PT tires him out though so he will be resting and watching movies for the rest of the day (one of his favorite pastimes).  :) So, no guests this evening.  He said maybe tomorrow, so I'll post an update tonight.  [...]

On the road to recovery

Hey everyone, we appreciate your continued prayers and support :)  Brian is resting peacefully and overall it has been a good day.  The doctors are all giving very positive reports and Brian has been in good spirits.  He wants to take another day to rest, so no guests at the hospital tomorrow.  But please do keep sending him messages, love, positive thoughts, and prayers![...]

Headed to surgery!

Hey everyone, send up the prayers!  They are about to take Brian back to the OR.  They will be performing both the bypass to remedy the blocked artery issue as well as the amputation and it's going to take them a few hours. We will post an update when he's out.[...]
