Love and Loyalty

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good and His loyal love endures forever." ~Psalm 118:29 NET

The Lord has shown me two remarkable qualities about Himself as I go through this cancer trial.

1. He is love
2. He is loyal

One of the most well known verses in the Bible speaks of these traits in John 3:16:

💟LOVE
For God so loved {you and I} that He gave His only begotten Son

💟LOYALTY
that if {you and I} believe in Him, {you and I} should not perish but have everlasting life.

What a pledge of eternal love offered to the whole world if they would only accept Him. What peace and joy to know you and I are guaranteed a place in heaven not awarded for good performance but given as a gift to those who believe in Jesus' name. If He has secured my eternal destiny out of His love and loyalty then will He not also fulfill the numerous promises granted me for everyday living?! I know His word to be true and I can testify to the beautiful effects of His devotedness in my life.
He has promised to be with me-and He is. He has promised to uphold me-and He does. He has promised to guide me-and He always brings me along. He has promised victory through our Lord Jesus Christ-and He gives me the strength and joy to reach higher ground. And above all, He has promised me eternal life with Him in His heavenly home-and He will come again to receive me. As I entrust myself to the keeping of His covenant blessings my heart is at rest and I know nothing can come between His loyal love and me. No difficult experiences or evil spirits of darkness can ever reach the secret sanctuary of the Most High where love wraps my soul with an invisible protective safeguard. It is His living and abiding presence which guards my heart and thoughts with perfect peace and wards off any evil. I can only respond to this incredible love by repeating the Psalmist's petition in Psalm 116:12:
"What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?"

The one thing we can give to God, and this is what He desires: to love Him wholeheartedly and be found faithful. (I Corinthians 4:2)

Faithful Friends, your love to the Lord has been demonstrated to me in many amazing ways. You have cared for me physically (meals, healthcare products), financially (money, gift cards), mentally (calls, cards, texts, visits), and spiritually (praying together, meaningful verses, cheerful encouragement to press on). My heart is full with gratitude for your true devotion which builds up my faith and love.

"By this all will know that you are My disciples (followers), — if you have love for one another." ~John 13:35
"True friends will be with you through life's most soul-shaking changes." ~Proverbs 18:24 msg

God's love is unconditional and His loyalty is unwavering.

Dear Loving Father, You are perfect and unchanging even when my heart falters and my feelings fluctuate. Help me to be more thankful, more consistent and more faithful to You and to others.
