Surgery a week away

I'm not gonna lie - I'm pretty nervous about this surgery. I'm quite phobic of needles, and I'll find out during my anesthesia consult whether or not I can take something for my anxiety on the day before the operation. I know intellectually that I will be fine, but it doesn't do much to calm my nerves. 

Candice will be accompanying me on that day and updating this journal on my behalf (since I'm pretty sure I'll be pretty groggy.) I will also authorize her to take photographs before and after (though I retain final edit privileges!)

Thank you for all of your kind words of support. I will try to get back to everyone in a timely manner but please be patient with me. Rest assured that I am getting your messages - they are so appreciated! 

As a reminder, I have a personal blog called The Erin Cronicals where I will be talking more philosophically about my illness an how it impacts me as a person, while this journal will be more medical in nature. This will allow people to be able to update themselves with the kind of information they want. (I can sometimes be glib or sassy in my blog, and some people just want the facts, ma'am.)
