He Has Reached the Finish Line!
Chad finished up his chemo treatment yesterday (5-6)! He spiked a fever last night but as of this morning it is gone. Hopefully he will start to feel better soon. He is set to go back to work on May 15th as long as he is feeling decent by that time. We cannot thank the staff (especialy the nurses & his oncologist) enough. The people at Compass Oncology in Tualatin are simply amazing. The nurses don't treat you as if you are just another number; everybody is treated as a person and they are so kind. I am so glad that Chad had such a great team on his side through this.
So what's next? On July 1st Chad will meet with his oncologist again. In June he will go back in for another CT scan. We are not completely out of the clear yet but we are getting there. There is a benign mass in Chad's back (in the lymph nodes). When it was first captured on a CT scan it was 1.4cm. They have to re-check the size of it now. If it has grown to 1.5cm or larger he will have to do the RPLND surgery to remove it. As of right now the mass is benign, however, it has the ability to turn into a teratoma if it is 1.5cm or larger. If that were to happen down the road that would be non-cureable. So they have to take it out now to prevent that from happening. We are really hoping that he won't have to do the surgery because it is extremely brutal but at the same time we want to be proactive. Chad's oncologist believes that the CT scan will be in Chad's favor and that the mass has not grown. So we are keeping our fingers crossed! I will continue to keep this page going and update everybody. Chad is truly grateful and appreciative of all of his family & friends that have been there for us through this time and that have been praying for him.
