Evening update

Today Lacey had a day focused on regulating her blood pressure and intracranial pressure.

Our evening prayer request is for a week of stability of her major body systems (blood pressure stabilized, cardiac function maintains sinus rhythm, improvement with her lungs) and most importantly the swelling on her brain to decrease quickly.

We love you Lacey so much. Today I thought a lot about your incredible sense of humor and joy you bring with you everywhere. You are a light in this world and certainly a bright light in my life.

July 29

Thank you for the prayers!

We are happy to report that Lacey had a good night. She didn’t have any vasospasms (which can cause the cardiac episodes) or issues with mucous plugs. Her providers are keeping her blood pressure higher today to maintain perfusion in her brain and for her body to be able to tolerate the fluid changes that rapidly occur. Her coloring looks good this morning and we can tell she is less swollen. The ICU team shared she will most likely stay on a paralytic until her risk of vasospasms reduce significantly. We have a lot of admiration and appreciation for the neuro ICU team they really are amazing. Carole her nurse is back again today as is Dr. Stephenson- we pray for blessings upon their hands as they care for all their patients. Another day to celebrate Lacey’s strength and progress.
Way to go Lacey you are a champion! [...]

Evening prayer request:

This evening we are praying that Lacey will get through the night without any cardiac events and her blood pressure will remain stable. Currently, her oxygen demand is at 60% on the ventilator and praying it will continue to improve. Also praying that her aspiration pneumonia responds to the antibiotics and improves quickly as her lung capacity and function is dependent upon this.

Thank you for your prayers and support for Lacey!

Lacey is a generous loving person who gives her love and acceptance freely without judgment. I strive to be more like her. ♥️[...]

July 28th

Lacey you had a great day today! Your ct scan showed that your external ventricular drain is working well and you don’t have any active bleeding occurring. You were able to tolerate diuretics today to pull off extra fluid in your tissues. You had a peaceful day with excellent nursing and provider care! They even told us to take a break and let you rest in the room with low stimulation as you recovered from all the movement you endured with the ct scan. You are a fighter and today we celebrate your victories. It is going to be a long haul and we are here with you every step of the way. Love you Lacey! ♥️🙏🏻 Thank you nurse Carole and Dr. Stephenson- your focus, stamina, compassion  and attention to detail is truly amazing. [...]

July 27th, Laceys Journey

On July 24th, Lacey Malkerson had a level 4 brain bleed. She was airlifted to Abbott Northwestern Hospital where she is being treated by some of the nations best neurologist. After having a drain placed in her brain and repair of the aneurysm she still remains in critical condition in the NEURO ICU.

*July 27; Lacey had 2 code blue episodes and made it through. Doctors think it is from an over exaggerated vasovagal response and/or mucous plug in her lungs. Doctors discontinued a couple medications and they are watching her labs closely. She continues to be ventilated and sedated, her vital signs are stable and she is requiring a little less oxygen from the ventilator this morning. The doctors are telling us this will be a long journey ahead of us, as she still has a lot of swelling and pressure in her brain which is compressing her bodies ability to breathe on its own. They cautioned us that it will be a rocky road ahead with many ups and downs with at least 3 wks in the NEURO ICU.
Lacey pulled through 4 coding episodes by the MIGHTY hand of GOD and because you responded in prayer by the Power of the Holy Spirit. How could we have the words to thank you...
