I had met Wes Foster on the very last day exiting out of Long and Foster to open my own brokerage. It was with no doubt a shock. I was with L&F for 7 years and the only company working as a Realtor. A great company with lots of resources and lots of great people. My wife at the time was recruited by many companies from Re/Max to Keller Williams, but I told her to hang in with L&F. When I met Wes Foster at the Old Courthouse Road Office in Vienna, Virginia- I was literally walking out on my final move. He came in the office with the late Robert Moulthrop who was a big fan of me and my partner. He had a smile, a gentle giant and with a powerful presence. I really had little time to gather my thoughts and just let Mr. Foster know that he had a great company and it was too bad that I had not met him earlier. When I heard of his death, it put tears into me knowing how much I sacrificed for success and imagining the hard work he put in. It really is a family organization that he built.

My deepest sympathies to Mr. Foster's entire family. I pray God blesses all of you with His Peace which surpasses all understanding and that you will be able to celebrate all the love and memories you shared. This September will mark my 30th anniversary with Long and Foster. I have had many other firms try to recruit me over the years, and have always told them the same thing: 'I have no desire to leave Long and Foster because of the level of integrity and professionalism Mr. Foster has instilled throughout his company'. I remember going to one of our Company Picnics VERY early on in my career, and seeing Mr. Foster across the way. Being a new agent, and a bit in awe, I knew I had to meet him. I walked over to him and introduced myself. He firmly shook my hand, asked me how I was doing, 'welcomed' me to the Long and Foster family, asked me if there was anything he could do to help me in my career, and wished me all the best. His words were heartfelt and sincere, and I knew at that moment that I had chosen the right firm to affiliate with. The following year at the picnic I went over to say hello to him, and got one of the biggest surprises of my life. As I approached him he extended his hand and said, 'Hello Bill, nice to see you again'. Needless to say, I was shocked that he remembered my name after only having met me one time the previous year!!! He truly was one of the nicest, smartest, kindest people I had, and have, ever met. I am sure when he went to Heaven he heard the words we all strive to hear from Our LORD, 'Well done my good and faithful servant'. Again, my deepest. most heartfelt condolences to all of his family, co-workers, and friends.

I heard GREAT stories of Wes. Happy to have been affiliated under part of Wes’ reign. I joined Long & Foster in 2010 and happy to have continued when Wes passed the baton to Boomer, and hope to continue under our new leaders as Long & Foster emerges onward.

Wes was always on top of his game. Polite, detailed, full of questions; a true gentleman who cared about his staff and agents. He kept his meetings on track and brief. Fountain of wisdom. What a gem and a delight to work for Mr. Foster. What a great man to create & lead Long & Foster. To the Foster family, so sorry for your loss.

In 2017 I was meeting someone colleagues at the Headquarters with my daughter, she was less than 1-year old (one of her first outings). I had no idea we would be treated to an impromptu meeting with Wes in his office!

Wes was a one of a kind person who impacted so many of us with his inspirational kindness, authenticity, integrity and persistence. He knew his people and he knew their strengths. He really saw each of us personally - what a genius he was at caring for his agents and employees. I worked with him for thirty one great years and I treasure having known him and having worked for him. My fondest regards and sympathy for his family - Holly Worthington

Wes purchased Larasan Realty back in 1990 and told Brenda Shiplett at the time to make sure I was staying as part of the company. They came and spoke to me personally. I was Relocation Director at the time and quite concerned as Long and Foster had never had anyone in thier Relocation/Corporate Services Dept outside of Fairfax headquarters at that time, but they assured me there was a place for me in the company and they honored thier word, and I stayed on in a Management capacity with Relocation/Corporate Services as the first Regional Manager outside of headquaters. He was a man of his word.

I'll never forget the time I was at HQ for a meeting. I stepped out to take a phone call and bumped into Wes in the hallway. He stopped and asked me, "how things were going and if I needed anything." I said, "no everything is going great, but thank you!" As I reached out to shake his hand, I blurted out, "I just want to say thank you for letting me work for your company Wes." We were face-to-face and he didn't let go of my hand and said, "it's not my company, it's our company."

I'm sure he went on about his day, but to me, those seven words encompassed his whole philosophy here at Long & Foster. They are seven words I'll never forget...

My deepest sympathy to Wes Foster's family. Wes was a very special man for all of us in West Virginia. While we were in a small office, he was always good to me and my fellow WV agents. Truly a one-of-kind man in every way. The Good Lord is embracing him in Heaven as we did on earth. Thanks for what you did in this world and I'm sure God has a special place for you in Heaven. I will be putting Wes on the Prayer List at my Church.
We are 1,500 strong and our prayers will be answered. May the Foster Family be proud of him and remember his kind ways. Amen

I feel blessed to have met Wes on a number of occasions, and to have worked for over a decade with both Wes & nephew Boomer, whose presence has also been very important to me & others in my family. This was a great man who had a great vision. As a new agent I completed my first survey and share some issues about the then LNF Home Warranty that my client experienced. The next thing I know I was communicating with "THE Mr. Wes Foster Himself" via email about that survey and those issues. I knew then I would be an LNF agent for life. I was so in awe that the name sake would take the time to respond to me, a new agent on the job, and at that time, only part-time, too. It was awesome. I will forever be grateful and honored by that interaction! To the Foster family, my deepest sympathies and condolences.

My sincere sympathy to Wes Foster's family. Wes Foster was a special man. The angels in heaven are rejoicing and welcoming him home. It was a blessing to be in his presence. He will be missed. Long and Foster is the company it is because of him. When I became part of the Long and Foster family in 2004, he gave us assurance that all would be the same and it is. I am proud to be apart of Long & Foster.
May the Lord bless you and give you peace as you grieve his loss.
Respectfully,

I remember well my parents learning of this innovative real estate firm in Northern Virginia called Long & Foster. They had this vision of a "one stop shop" for real estate clients. My parents were so impressed that when they were building their own real estate office, they designed it for multiple businesses. We were able to have an insurance company, an attorney, and even a internet service provider - the first in the Charlottesville region. What a compliment to Wes Foster and he never knew... Fast forward 20 years and when I called my broker mom to tell her I was joining Long & Foster she was absolutely thrilled!
After becoming a manager for Long & Foster, I was continually surprised by Wes calling to check in. The best part of those calls were that he always asked me what HE could do to help me help my agents. You always knew that for Wes, it was all about our agents! That's what made our company what it is today! His legacy will live on.

I am sad to hear of our loss of such a sweet and kind man, I still called him Mr Foster, he was gentle as the Wesley bear (Stuff) that I still hold for many years, Always think of his Agents and customers we served first.
Taking the time out to learn and called many of us by name. But, I know to be absent of this body is to be with the Lord. Mrs Foster and family I know your hearts may be broken, please be encourage that he is resting in peace and have angel duties now.

It is hard to fathom that such a vibrant man has left us. Wes was the the owner of the third and last Company that I worked for during my 35+ years in the real estate business. He was by far the most
caring and yet perspicacious man I have ever had the pleasure to work with. With the guidance of Jack Queen, he hired me when he really did not need me. He then gave me the rope to either succeed or fail. Fortunately, his decision paid off for both of us. He understood when to give and when to stand his ground and most appreciated him for it, either way, because that was the way he affected people. You may have disagreed with him but you always respected him. I have not seen him for 10 plus years but I am forever in his debt and will forever hold him in a place in my heart. My sympathies go out to his wonderful family.
