Yesterday was the first Father's Day wthout Albert with us...and his first Father's Day with his Heavenly Father.  Made for a bittersweet day for sure.  I stopped by Dad's grave in the afternoon and took some pictures of the newly placed grave marker.  I have posted a couple on this site.[...]

We are so grateful for the many friends who came out yesterday to honor Albert and support the family.  Thank you so much!  And we are immensely thankful for all the people who worked so hard to prepare the church, manage the technical aspects on site and for the great and abundant food.  So many generous contributions from so many.  Thank you, thank you, thank you![...]

Two of Albert's passions were the ministry of The Evangelical Covenant Church of Canada, where he served faithfully his entire adult life, and Covenant Bay Bible camp where he and Anna met and where thousands have met Jesus.  Funds have been established with both these great ministries in Albert's honor and memory.  The Canada Covenant fund will help provide bursaries for men and women training for leadership in the Church.  Covenant Bay will use that fund to help expand their facilities. [...]

There will be a graveside service for the the extended family on Friday May 10 at 11 am.  Albert will be laid to rest at Valleyview Memorial Gardens (14644 - 72nd Avenue, Surrey, BC).   We look forward to seeing both family and friends at the Celebration Service at 3 pm Friday.  That service will be held at Green Timbers Covenant Church (14219 88 Ave, Surrey, BC).  [...]

Albert's Memorial and Celebration service will be held at Green Timbers Covenant Church on Friday, May 10th at 3:00 p.m.   A public visitation will be hosted at Valley View Memorial Gardens on Thursday May 9th from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M.[...]

If you have been following this blog, you may recall that on March 26 we posted that Albert had been pastoring in the palliative care ward.  One of his wonderful nurses had confided that she and her husband had been trying for a long time to start their family and were despairing.  He offered to pray for her.  She accepted.  We found out Tuesday, in Dad's final hours, that this nurse is now carrying that couple's first child.  We told Dad but, of course, got no visible response but I think if he could have said something he would have said with his trademark twinkle in his eye "Name him Albert".[...]

There were many grace moments in these past weeks with Albert and they continued to the end.  Many weeks ago when we were talking about his celebration service I asked Dad what his favorite hymn was.  I was a little surprised when he didn't name one of the great Swedish hymns which I know he loved to sing.  I double checked it a week later - same answer.  Here is that hymn: [...]
