As a parent we always think that our child is special but clearly Brian touched so many people in so many ways no matter what the age was. We were so very overwhelmed by the amount of people that came to Brian's wake and patiently stood in line for hours to give us their condolences. We loved hearing how Brian touched each and everyone of you. It makes the healing process a little easier if that's even possible. The outpouring of prayers and support still continues to leave us lost for words because we are so touched and grateful for our family and friends. We just want to thank you whether you sent us prayers, dropped us off a meal or photo album or just kept us in your thoughts. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts. The life that we had will be very different than the life that we have now but as i used to tell Brian, different doesn't necessarily have to be bad. Remembering Brian's spirit and who he was ... we'll find our new new.

Not only has Brian left us with inspiration, but you as well Lydia and Bob!
As always you have amazed me again! I know God will give you the strength you need, we all have to rely on Him and be thankful we were blessed with knowing Brian, even though the time is too short on earth. This time is so short compared with eternity and I am so thankful I will see him again and we will walk streets of gold and have THE BEST steak dinner!! Love you guys so much 😘😘😘
We are all better individuals for having known Brian. Kudos to you for a job well done in raising such a shining star. All our love always.
I was absolutely amazed by the amount of people that came to support Brian and your family... the many many beautiful stories of Brian and how beautifully he touched so many lives!!!! We would not have missed being there for anything in the world...we love you and will remain in your lives always!!! We love you and are blessed to know you all!!! XOXOXO
What an example and inspiration Brian was. Lydia and Bob you provided wonderful soil for this young life to grow and flourish. We will not understand the why however know we are here to help you find your new normal - that will be very different however as you stated not all "bad". We do not mourn as those without hope. To this truth we can cling for God is faithful. Love and Prayers to you!!!
Not sure if it will ever be possible to understand why his time here on earth was cut so short. After listening to you and all those he touched I have decided that he must have been an angel sent down on some sort of mission. He touched so many & accomplished so much. It IS clear though that there was a quiet yet deep purpose to his life that will linger in his absence forever. We wish you peaceful healing and the fullness of heartwarming memories. ❤️ Debbie & Steve Markiewicz
Lydia and Bob, I was in awe at both the wake and funeral! I unfortunately had only met Brian and had brief conversations when at your home a couple times! He got what all of our purposes are to be here on earth - to love and share God’s word by our actions! I was so inspired by the stories but all his life was truly a reflection of his upbringing and his parents!! I’m so glad I was part of it all! I have never in my 58 years known a prodigy and you raised one! ❤️ you both and God Bless!!
I reach out to you from here. Wish I could give you a hug, but I want you to know you and Bob are in my thoughts and prayers as you begin to heal.
We're all better off for having known Brian. He makes me want to be a better person and I know he'll continue to do so. The service was amazingly inspirational and your strength and vision are something to aspire.
Lydia, Bob and all of your family members...the service for Brian was very special. The photo slide show was profoundly touching, the pastors message was filled with compassion and hope and Lydia, your eulogy was amazingly strong and brave, even though inside you were grieving. You allowed God to speak through you and inspire many. My prayers will continue for all of you as you navigate your new new. Difficult as that will be, I trust the Lord will pave the way and though "weeping will endure for a night, joy WILL come in the morning" (Psalm 30:5) whenever that morning will be.
You and Bob have such a strong outlook on life and it has shown all of us how love and God strengthens our lives. Thank you for all the updates on Brian. He will never be forgotten
It was an absolutely beautiful service for a very special young man who touched the lives of many people during his short life. He is with his Lord - no more pain - just joy beyond belief. Brian was blessed to have parents who were great role models for him and taught him how to show the love of Jesus to others. God bless you Lydia and Bob. Carol Kopacz
Will continue to pray for you and Bob! May the Lord continue to Bless You with strength, joy, and a new form of peace in your spirit! Love coming your way!
A GoFundMe page for construction of the Brian Beam Memorial Garden on the campus of RPI was started on January 13th, 2019. The link is: https://www.gofundme.com/the-brian-beam-memorial-fund We are raising funds to construct the Brian Beam Memorial Garden at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in loving memory of Mr. Brian Anthony Beam '20, a student whose life was tragically taken by inoperable brain cancer on Christmas Day 2018. Brian was only 20 years old when he succumbed to glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), a most aggressive brain cancer that usually afflicts only those 65 and older. An exemplary student, Brian was taken from us in the prime of his life. A Nuclear Engineering Major, Brian was enrolled in the Naval ROTC program at RPI and wanted to serve his beloved United States of America. Brian was a true scholar, achieving a 3.9 GPA while at RPI. He touched so many people, as evident by the over 1000 attendees to his visitation and funeral. He will be missed by all who knew him, but we must find comfort in the thought that wherever he is now, we are sure that he is doing great things for others and is perpetually healthy and happy in his new afterlife. We also believe that he will be looking down on us from his heavenly realm and serving as our guardian angel in times of trouble and despair. His parents, Bob and Lydia Beam, wish to honor him by landscaping the plateau area behind the Walker Laboratories in the form of planting trees, building a fish pond with a waterfall, adding concrete benches, fixing the steps leading up to the plateau and mounting bronze plaques with images of Brian at various locations within the garden that will serve as inspiration for generations of RPI students to come. The garden will also serve to remind us all that even though we have made tremendous advances in curing diseases such as cancer, there remains many deadly afflictions that elude a cure. Visitors to the garden should be reminded that there is an ongoing need for more research in chemistry, biology, medicine, physics, engineering and math in order to find cures for the mostly deadly inoperable cancers such as GBM, and that the cure for these killers may lie within their own minds and imaginations.
Thank you Dr. Tysoe, I shall share the link with my friends and family on FB. We will see you again soon!! XO thank you for sharing 123 and taking the time to really get to know such a phenomenal young man!! There are not alot of professors out there like that.
