Caleb Update 12/22/22

As always, we are so grateful for all of the support we have had over the past few months. All of the meals, texts, donations and well wishes are overwhelming and we are so lucky to have all of you helping us manage this journey.

We have had a wonderful couple months at home and are now beginning the next phase of Caleb’s treatment. We were able to find a place to stay close to the hospital, so we are now only 10 minutes away.  He began lymphodepleting Chemo on the 20th and does four days of that through the 23rd.  We will then head home for the weekend, so we can be home for Christmas which is incredible.  After that, we will head back down to DE on the 26th for a couple months.

He gets the infusion of CAR-T cells on Tuesday the 27th.  We have been told that the actual infusion is very anti-climactic and that it is basically like any other blood transfusion he has had.  Then it is just wait and see.  The major side effects can occur anywhere in the first 8 weeks after the infusion.  They are normally connected to the amount of disease left in the body at the time of transfusion, so hopefully he will not have too many issues.  Fingers Crossed.  We are just hoping for the best and planning for the worst.

They will then monitor him 2 times per week for the first 30 days, once a week for the next 60 days, and then it spreads out. As we have said so many times in the past four months, the goal is total remission at his next bone marrow biopsy in one month.  So here we go! A new year, a new treatment and a lot to be grateful for!

Also, a HUGE thank you to Shifted Focus Photography for these incredible photos of the family!
