Cindy's Song
On Saturday evening, June 15 beginning at 7 p.m. a special evening of worship will be offered by Grace Chapel to “give glory to God for the life of Cindy Trevisan." Here’s why...
----------------------------------------
Despite Cindy’s lifelong passion with music and vocal music in particular, only the Grace Chapel community was truly acquainted with the extent of her vocal talent where she was a 14-year vocalist with the Sunday worship team. Worship at Grace features contemporary Christian arrangements along with some more traditional songs and contemporized hymns. Whatever was sung, Cindy loved every moment of it.
The Grace Worship team typically features piano, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keyboard/synthesizer, drums and two to three vocalists. A sound person and a media person to run the program that projects the lyrics for the congregation to sing along round out the team.
Grace’s worship leader, Heather schedules the team members for each week the prior month than posts the liturgy itinerary - list of songs, sheet music pdfs attached, and YouTube links to new songs to be listened to and learned. The team practices each Sunday two hours before the service starts to lock down how the songs will be played and sung during the service.
Cindy diligently prepared at home by closing the door of our study to park herself in front of our computer, print off music, sing through the songs and sing along with YouTube to new songs to be learned.
Once monthly, I am part of the media guy for worship team, running the program that projects the lyrics for the congregation to sing along during the service. I “practice” with the team to make sure the lyrics sync with the Heather’s arrangements. The same program projects to a back screen for the singers. Cindy loved that back screen because she could get out from behind the music stand and sheet music and engage with the congregation more freely during the service.
After service most Sundays, people would approach Cindy to compliment her singing and express appreciation for being part of leading the congregational worship. She appreciated this feedback because she was often self-conscious about her singing, worrying about being off key or flat or off track with the rest of the team.
I would say that of all the things Cindy was engaged with in the last few years, being a vocalist with the Grace Chapel Worship team was near the top of her list. She loved her fellow team members, Heather, John, Nick, Roy, Doug, Jack, Fred, and Jim and she really felt she was using her gifts for the glory of God. Personally, I think the joy in her radiated on her face while she was singing.
Despite that Cindy sang with the team hundreds of times over many years, I have only a few pictures during practices and none during the service when she was most engaged. So you’ll just have to imagine along with me of Cindy up there sharing her sweet voice as joy flowed out of her being in celebration of her Lord.
If you are able, come to Grace Chapel on June 15 for a night of worship and remembering Cindy together in the very place where she experienced so much joy in the sharing her vocal gifts.
Here’s where we’ll be: Grace Chapel; 27996 Halsted Road; Farmington Hills, MI 48331; 7 pm.
Hope to see you there. Come as you are.

What a lovely tribute they've planned! I'll put it on my calendar, and hope to be there.❤️
Won't be able to attend -- TJ has her hip surgery the next morning -- but we will be there at heart!
