An Appointed Time📖

4th Chemo Cycle on December 11, 2019
Another chemo session in Rochester has lead to another meeting with cousin Arnie. It's "all in the timing" - God's timing! He is the One who repeatedly sets up connections so the truth of His Word gets out.
In a recent post, I asked you to pray specifically that our schedules would coincide last Wednesday at the Mayo so we could see each other. By wonderful providence, for a second time in a row, I met up with Arnie again in the subway level at Mayo. Indeed, I sensed God's sovereign plans emerge as we discussed the uncertainty of living with cancer. In the course of the conversation I reminded Arnie that cancer cannot hasten death nor can medical treatment lengthen life. God's word tells us our days on earth, beginning with our birth and ending with our death, are etched in eternity and nothing can alter these dates. Peace shelters the soul and worry ceases when we realize "our times are in His hands." Cancer need not hold a death grip on the child of God. Our lifespan is in His control and we can fully trust the One who numbers each of our days with unerring, divine purpose. God simply wants us to learn to enjoy the present moment with all He provides, all He offers, and all He asks by faith.
Any medical care we do receive is a gracious gift which may enhance our physical well-being for a time but only until our work on earth is done. That's why it is best to always keep in mind that this world is not our permanent home. Ultimately, we were created to spend the majority of time in eternity where we will live with a perfect Savior in a perfect place with perfected people. In the meantime, God gives us a fixed period of time here on earth in order to know Him, to believe on His son Jesus, and to prepare us for our real home with Him in Heaven one day soon.
May we be thankful for each day. May our hearts be full. May we live in light of eternity.
