Gracie's Standing Tilt Table
Hello Everyone!
It's been almost two years now since my spinal cord injury due to acute flaccid myelitis(AFM). Every day brings challenges but I have been keeping busy writing music, painting and taking classes online at Santa Barbara City College.
The Grace Fisher Foundation has been keeping me busy as well. I've been going out to local elementary schools, sharing my story and showing the kids painting projects using only their mouths. My parents and I also made a trip back to Craig Hospital where my foundation donated funds to the music therapy program so they could purchase some equipment to enhance Sara Thompson's Music Therapy Program. I was able to get on a commercial flight and spend a week in Denver reconnecting with many people who helped me so much during my stay at Craig.
Here's a news article on my visit there: http://denver.cbslocal.com/2016/10/04/paralyzed-teen-musician-gets-music-back-thanks-to-craig-hospital/
Acute Flaccid Myelitis has been getting more publicity lately as we find ourselves in the midst of another outbreak. Several kids this year have been afflicted and many of them have significant impairments like mine. Though AFM remains mostly a mystery, experts in the field are imploring patients to continue to work hard to maintain strength, flexibility, joint integrity and bone health. As you might imagine much of my time is spent in therapy performing exercises. If a breakthrough treatment ever materializes I want to be in a position physically to take advantage of it.
My outpatient Physical Therapist at Cottage Rehab has recommended that I get a standing table for use at my home. This will enable me to perform standing activities to generate weight bearing in my legs and spine, keeping my bones and muscles healthy. This is not an item my insurance company will cover, so I am asking for help on behalf of myself and my family. I am asking for donations to raise the funds the purchase of a standing tilt table for me to use at home.
If you would like to donate, you can visit a Crowdwise site that friends have setup for me:

Grace, even though I am fortunate to be able to see you frequently, I don't always have a chance to connect as deeply as I'd like. This letter/post is wonderfully written and I appreciate being able to learn more details of your struggles and goals. I'm sure you'll have that table in no time! You are a force of positive energy and love. Best to you all for a great Christmas.
Hello Gracie; That was a very good post and extremely well written, I'm happy to see the financial request was already over-subscribed before I made my contribution, you've got a lot of folks in your fan club young lady, and I'm happy to be a member. Keep us updated on your progress, you remain at the top of my list of the 10 most favorite people on planet Earth. Love ya Gracie, Bob Mitchell
