Good morning!

Hello everyone,

I want to apologize for the length of time I have gone between updates. Please know that when you hear no news from this page - it is GOOD NEWS! :)

Evie has started her chemotherapy via pill form. This week she will start it via weekly injections at KGH. I was unaware before that chemo-therapy simply means 'chemical therapy' and can be any medication to treat illness. I thought that chemo was a specific treatment/medication. They are using steroids for Ev's treatment.

So far she has tolerated the pills very well, which we are all thankful for. The injections can be a bit of a different story - but the fact that she has handled the pills well is a good indication she will handle the injections well too.

Her back is looking EXTREMELY good! The whole top half is now no longer needing to be covered by bandages. A nurse still comes every 3 days and does the lower part - which is still weepy and draining - which is exactly what it needs to do!

She has met with her Doctor at the Cancer Clinic in KGH with regards to the stem cell transplant. If that takes place, it will be after several rounds of chemo - to my understanding. She is not automatically approved for it because she is a year off in age of the automatic, no questions asked transplant. However, because she is otherwise healthy and very active, she has a good chance to be approved for it. Her doctor said it is a process that can cause her to be quite sick.

Ev does not want to ask or have answered any questions that are long-term. She wants to go at this one day at a time and keep a positive outlook. I think she is very wise for knowing and expressing what she wants to know at this point. There are a lot of positive stories out there, but she wants to be realistic to a point as well. While not dwelling on or knowing too much in advance.

She is doing great and has a fantastic attitude!

Thank you all for your calls, cards and visits. She appreciates it so much. And so do we.

Blessings to you all.

Erin
