The past few days have been long and we have been slow getting updates to Jill who has helped us by setting up this post. It would have been nearly impossible to cope without the support we have recieved from all of you. A lot has happenedin the last couple of days. One of the big steps in getting Jesse out of the critical care unit was to get him off of the respirator and breathing on his own. The respitory therapist tried a couple of times but Jesse didn't respond well. So to those of us who know Jesse it came as no surprise that around 3:00 AM Thursday he removed his respirator tube himself and began breathing on his own. He was able to talk with his nurses. At first he was a little disoriented but as the effects of the sedatives began to wear off he became more lucid. He was moved out of the critical care unit to the orthorpedic floor Friday at 9:00 PM. Erin spent Friday night with him and he is now becoming aware of what has hapened to him and his family.[...]
Dr. Killabrew informed us that Jesse's surgery went very well and and that he was probably was not going to need another one for about a year. He was able to put a baloon in the nasal cavity that would stay there as he healed. We still have a long way to go before he is ready to come home. He may take two weeks or two months at this point he he needs to remain sedated so the broken bones can begin healing which may take up to six weeks. At this point we are seeing some good signs but we are reminded that unforseen things can happen.[...]
This site is set up with a donation tab, however it won't save the infomation so you can see it, so I will share what we know so far this way. Hopefully by tomorrow there will be an account set up for Jesse at the Mat Valley Credit Union. I will post on here when I know all of the details..[...]
Jesse had surgery this morning. Oz reports that it went very well. The doctors built his cheek back up and put plates in his face. He made it threw it very well and is already starting to look better, despite the bruises swelling etc. The doctors are going to continue to keep him sedated for now. When they do wake him up they will then be able to see if he has all of his sight and smell, but until then we will remain optomistic.[...]
Right now Jesse is in stable condition he has mutiple fractures mostly to his spine, ribs and both clavicles and pelvis and a small laceration on his left kidney. The most serious injury was to his nose and left eye Dr. Kilabrew did an amazing job putting every thing back in place in the in the ER. He is is being kept sedated due to the pain but has been able to come to a couple of times. We are opptomistic that he can see us and comprehend what is being said to him. Dr. Killabrew is going to begin recontructive sugery on his left oribital socket early tomorrow morning. Erin, Amy and RJ are all doing very well. Erin has some brusies and scrapes but no broken bones or lacerations. RJ has a mark across his shoulder from the seat belt and Amy does not even have a scratch. We will try to keep you posted as often as we can.[...]
