Monday Update
Ryan continues to make slow but promising progress. When he arrived in the hospital on Thursday, he was alive and unresponsive. Each hour the medical staff will push hard on his fingers, to see if he will move his hand away in response to the pain. On Friday, he would move his hand a couple of inches. By Saturday, he would move his arm all the way to his chest. Yesterday, as they adjusted his feeding tube, he started to open his eyes. They are small steps, but to see them happen is fantastic!
Many people have asked for ways that you can help. Here are a few options:
If you'd like to help out with meals
Please go to http://posthope.org/lets-help-the-browns (this website)
This website was set up by a neighbor to schedule meals for the Brown family. If you click on the 'calendar' link, you'll see where folks have signed up for dinner. Jessica's mom is in town for at least the next 10 days, so Jessica has told me that while she is here they would need meals every other day.
If you'd like to help with finances
A website was just set up yesterday for those who would like to make financial contributions. That website is:
https://www.youcaring.com/ryan-and-jessica-brown-567364
Fortunately Ryan has good health insurance. However, Jessica has had to cancel piano lessons, which has been a source of income. There's the expense of flying family members out so that they can help the family. Considering Ryan's injuries, there are likely to be many more expenses over the coming weeks and months.
If you'd like to help watching their boys
Jessica's mom is in town for at least the next 10 days to watch the boys, but if you would be available to help after that, please let Jessica Davis know. Her email address is: [email protected]
If you know the boys, you know they are shy and reserved, so they may be most comfortable with people they know well.
