Louis' surgery has been postponed.
When he was intubated on Thursday (given a breathing tube) he aspirated (inhaled fluid into his lungs). The nurses have been monitoring the fluid and the respiratory therapists have been giving him regular treatments to break up the fluid but there is concern that bacteria may be growing. We want his lungs at 100% so they can help his heart carry the load after surgery.
The pulmonary specialist will perform a Bronchoscopy, using a camera down the throat/nose to view the upper right lobe of his lung, to provide a better look at the concerning area. And they'll begin antibiotics to be proactive. This may take up to a few weeks. We are probably looking at surgery sometime next week, or later.
Medically, this all makes sense and is the right course of action. I get it.
But I hate it, and I'm pissed and I'm sad and I'm mad and I'm desperate to hold my baby. And there's nothing anyone can say and I don't want to hear it. And it sucks.

Sigh. So sorry. Just have to keep lifting the little darling in prayer.
