A brief update
What started as pacemaker assessment surgery turned into a PICU admission. Louis is ok, but he had a rough start. When putting him under anesthesia, he did code. They were able to revive him to discover that he has very low hemoglobin and he is severely anemic. He was given a blood transfusion, and they continued with the heart cath to explore his coronaries, which look perfect (but have given us trouble in the past). So we learned his issue is not structural (no surgery), and because of the day's events, there was no intervention with the pacemaker.
Louis is sedated and intubated in the PICU, and will likely stay that way for a day or two to let his body rest. I expect that tomorrow we will learn what the next steps are. It does seem like Louis' heart function will return with proper medication. The whole reason we're here is because of poor heart function.
So in short, he's ok and he will get better but today was a sh*tstorm!
I will update more thoroughly when I've had some time to digest and after I'm able to hold my baby.
