Today was a big day. Lacey transition over to ECMO (lung bypass machine) this morning at 11am. This was a very risky period of time because she had to quickly move out of a position (prone, stomach lying) and into the catch lab procedure room. She successfully made it through the procedure today.
She moved to the cardiovascular ICU at Abbott Northwestern where she has both a neuro ICU nurse and a CV nurse. She is receiving amazing life sustaining care. Thank you to all the nurses and providers out there- you are truly making a difference in people’s lives every single day.
The theme for today is transition. She literally transitioned in and out of a physically challenging position with multiple unknowns and risks- into a cath lab- on ECMO- to the CV ICU and finally this evening receiving dialysis through her ECMO catheter. Wow, Lacey once again made it through the odds and is still fighting. Thank you for the many prayers that helped her get through the life threatening transitions she had today. My family can’t thank you enough.
Please pray for stability in the next couple days. The care team says we still need her to rest her body for many days and let the swelling on her brain continue to decrease before we are able to see how she tolerates being without all the machines and devices that are currently sustaining her.
Sincere appreciation ♥️🙏🏻
