April 2021 update
I had my scans Monday, and the doctors report that the chemo has worked to reduce the tumors in my lung. I still have the long term bad situation of likely uncurable rectal cancer, but the short and medium term news was as good as can be hoped 馃槉. My reward is that I will continue on chemo, but switching from every 2 weeks to every 3 or 4 weeks. I’ll get my next scans in three months and go from there.
They also found blot clots near my port and my lung, which they believe are fairly common side effects of having a port. Now I'm on blood thinners.
While the doctors credit the chemo with reducing the tumors, I believe the real cause is the positive energy that I receive from both being part of Team BGCP and the epic run of amazing weekends and fun outdoors trips with family and friends that I’m doing. I just returned from a fantastic week in Utah, visiting national parks, and have a calendar full of more adventures coming up (Point Reyes, Cabo, Steep Ravine, Union Reservoir, Jamaica, Jersey Shore, Yosemite, etc.)!
On to the next adventure!
Love,
Peter
