Next Stop: Atlanta!
Let me start off this post by saying thank you to all of you. Your messages of love and support have provided tremendous strength to all of us. We have made an effort to read each and every one of your comments to Rob, and he is so overwhelmed and thrilled by all of your support.
We are approaching one week since Rob had his accident. He has had his good days and his bad days. He is of course still experiencing some pain, but the nurses and doctors are working hard to try to get it under control. The physical therapists have been visiting him daily with all sorts of exercises to get his arms and upper body moving.
Despite his days of difficulty, he has maintained a very positive outlook on his situation. He’s very eager to see everyone again, and is ready for the next step of this process... which brings me to the exciting news: tomorrow Rob will leave the ICU at UMPC, and he will be transported via medical jet to the Shepherd Spinal Cord Injury Center in Atlanta! Definitely check them out online, and all of the amazing things they are doing at www.shepherd.org. We are elated for him to begin the rehabilitation process in Atlanta, and know he has some tough work ahead.
We will continue to keep you all updated on his progress.

On to Atlanta, Shepherd is a familiar name. I knew a young man about 15 years ago who had a T3 injury and did his initial rehab there. His level of rehab when he returned to the valley was nothing short of amazing. Keep your positive attitude. I know there will be good days and not so good days in your near future. I will keep you ALL in my thoughts and prayers as you continue through recovery and rehab. I will be thankful for each good day and ask the Lord to bring you to mind more often on your not so good days so the prayers will be more frequent. Thank you Jordan for the updates. If possible would you post an address for Rob, once he's settled in Atlanta, so we can send cards of encouragement. Karen Robertson
Great news! We are thrilled he is getting the best care! Prayers continue for his quick healing!
Here's hoping the flight to Atlanta goes smoothly and that Rob's spirits remain high during rehab.

Rob, I'm thinking and praying for you and your family. This is just such wonderful news that you will be receiving the absolute best of rehabilitation...
Thank you, Jordan, for creating this site which enables us all to stay updated on Rob’s recovery. I have heard nothing but great things about the care at Shepherd. But have they ever rehabbed a guy like Rob? 😉 I imagine you will wow them, will likely make them laugh and keep them on their toes at Shepherd, Rob! So glad you are heading there as you deserve the best. Hugs to you and all the Kyler’s.
Shepherd is a top rate facility. I visited a friend there last year and was very impressed with their level of care. Prayers for a safe journey and continued progress for your dad.
Blessings upon blessings Rob as you recover and start rehab. May Peace rule in your heart, body and mind. Gerald Hershey

Thanks Jordan for all the updates keep them coming send much Love ,Hope and Encouragement for Rob and your Family many Prayers
Great news! Excellent rehab is so important. My thoughts are with you often. Make sure you meet up with the dietitian so she can fine tune your diet, if you’ll let her! Haha. You are an inspiration, Rob! Never forget that our body is merely a shell. All the important stuff is within.
I look out my back door many times a day with sadness, seeing your empty home. I’m looking forward to the return of life and laughter and activity across the way. I’m happy to hear you are on the way to the next level in your healing process. Im a native Atlantan and have a family member who receives fabulous, cutting-edge care at Shepherd. . You and your family have my heartfelt best wishes.
I love myself some research, and I am so happy you’re headed to such an awesome facility known for leading the pack on early interventions and positive outcomes! When I first learned of Rob’s heartbreaking accident doing something he so loves, I was reminded of a tweet/thread I had read in June upon the death of Charles Krauthammer and a letter he had written to a young journalist’s 56 yr old father who had survived a significant spinal cord injury while surfing in Nicaragua. At a time when so many didn’t know what to say, he felt Dr. Krauthammer had said the exact right thing. The necessary things. While reading all about Shepherd’s facility late last night, imagine my surprise to discover it is the same facility Dr. Krauthammer went to following his own accident 46 years ago! And while this post is surely longer than one should ever be, I took it as a sign, reaffirming my desire to share his letter of encouragement to another adventure-loving father. I hope you’ll read it, and possibly find some measure of comfort and inspiration in his words whenever they’re needed most. So many who love and care about your family, myself included, wish they had the exact right words to say, knew the right thing to do, or most likely, wish like hell we could reverse the clock so Rob’s accident had never happened at all! ‘It sucks’ and ‘Im sorry’ seem so inadequate when someone’s world is knocked so completely off its axis. But it does and I am. Thank you so much to Jordan for setting up this site to keep us informed as you all begin this new journey. While I know you are incredibly strong, I also think you shouldn’t always have to be, especially given the grief of loss you have already endured over the past year. I can only hope you feel the presence of those newly-minted angels watching over you. But even more than this, I hope you feel the love and support of so many of us, blessed by the gift of your kindness and friendship, so eager to celebrate every success in all of the many good days ahead, while lifting you through those that are not. Much love and safe travels!! Molly~ Here is a link to that story and Charles Krauthammer’s letter: https://www.dailywire.com/news/32161/must-read-journalist-shares-moving-letter-charles-amanda-prestigiacomo
So happy you can make the trip to Shepherd this soon after your accident. I’ve heard they do wonderful things there, and we will among the hundreds and hundreds of people cheering you on. Sending all of you lots of good thoughts and affection.
Great news!!!! Thanks for the update.
Rob- I am so sorry.....it was supposed to be Rossi. Seriously, get those arms and hands back. If you get those it's going to be so much easier, If not you'll still do it, just a longer road. I hope the surgeries go well. You know how pt is. Celebrate the little stuff because that's where the big stuff come from. Don't get too bummed out when the big stuff turns out to be what we idiots don't even notice we're doing. You've had the plane, the boat, the Porsche. I fully expect the exoskeleton. Next time I see you I want the full Ripley at the end of Alien thing. With better detailing around the solenoids. Love and hope, Thornton Lewis Nancy...If you want an old and out of touch friend to talk to ...9 one 7 2o8 041two
