Shannon - Superwoman Extraordinaire!

Our dear friend, Shannon, was diagnosed with a brain mass on February 12, 2016. This page is designed to give updates as well as good wishes and love to Shannon as we walk with her on this journey to a full recovery! We know there will be highs and lows but most of all love and courage. And we will laugh because that is what we do! “Laughter is a sunbeam of the soul.” ― Thomas Mann, The Magic Mountain “It’s true that laughter really is cheap medicine. It’s a prescription anyone can afford. And best of all, you can fill it right now.” ― Steve Goodier

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How can I read the entire story?

A: if you click "journal" at the top of the page, it will take you to recent posts. On the left margin, you will see a list by year/month. The blog posts began in February, 2016. You can start there and read through the most current posts.

2. How did Dr. No Naps get his nickname?

A: First off, only the ones I like get a nickname. For No Naps, at our first meeting he instructed me to not take any naps because he didn't want me to be sedentary. He didn't know me then.

3. Who started the blog and why?

A: My awesome friend Jane started the blog for me because I was somewhat incapacitated early on. Jason had a few early posts as well. I didn't begin posting until a few weeks after my surgery.

4. Why do you use Posthope?

A: Posthope was chosen because it had the word "hope" and because I had never known anyone on any of the other health related blogs who had been truly successful and/or long lived. Later we learned that Posthope doesn't charge as much as other sites when processing donations.

5. Do you use this platform to promote anything?

A: Yes, in some ways. I see at my mission to share about any research or strategies that I have learned about, one of which is metabolic therapy. Metabolic therapy for treating illness can be difficult. When I find a company or a product that helps break down barriers, I will recommend it. You can tell them I sent you if you want to, but you certainly don't have to. It's worth it to me if you are able to benefit.

6. Do you know everyone who reads your blog?

A: The short answer is no. However, anyone can feel free to contact me and I will do my best to get back to you. You can email me at [email protected] or [email protected]. I'd prefer you use the gmail account, but it may take longer for me to get back to you. If you have an emergency, it's better to email my work.

7. Will you blog about topics by request?

A: Yes. Post requests in the comments or email me.

8. Where do you receive treatment?

A: I am seen in Brain and Spine at MDAnderson in Houston. I do occasionally see other doctors there, as they prescribe to the philosophy of treating the entire patient, which includes body, mind, spirit.

9. How can a vendor for metabolic therapies, medical products, etc., inquire about a promotion?

A: Vendors and companies can email me directly. If I have used your product, I will consider whether I can honestly endorse your product. If not, then I will say so. If I like your product and want to endorse it, I will consider your request. I often will mention products that I happen to try and enjoy even if the company does not know I've endorsed their product.

10. Do you do podcasts, media appearances, or interviews?

A: I will consider such requests. Start by sending an email.
