Updates on scans.

I think I’ve finally recovered from Thanksgiving!  I made sure to schedule NO dr. or physical therapy appointments that week, I started back up for P/T on Thursday and I was so exhausted afterwards and in pain that night.  I decided to take a muscle relaxer and sleep in the recliner over night.  Best decision ever! I actually slept the whole night through.  I’ve been waking up typically at 2-3am and can’t get back to sleep.

Last Tuesday bryant had his CAT scan of his lymph nodes to see if his Prostate cancer has spread.  The doctor tentatively said lymph nodes were still swollen and they can not verify if there was cancer present there or not; so he has surgery scheduled on dec. 21 to remove his prostate.  Everything is messed up due to the kidney stones he had several weeks ago.

My Optune contact is coming to visit me on this coming Monday, dec 6.  She will bring my device, the giant band aides that go on my head, batteries and the whole kit and caboodle.  My new chemo meds are on the way probably on a sss-lll-oooooo-www boat from China,  my meds by mail pharmacy takes forever!  this dose is stronger then what I was taking before, but I’ll only have to take it for 5 days every month.  So any side effects I feel will be totally from the chemo.  The Optune side effects is skin irritation from the band aides or glue.

I’m getting ready to start looking like I’m working for NASA.  All I need is a helmet and oxygen.

Oh I forgot, my MRI was on Wednesday last week on dec 1st.  Results were ambiguous.  What does that actually mean?  there are obvious changes in my scan.  The larger tumor on my motor strip appears to be smaller.  but there are smaller brightly ringed spots where the larger tumor was located which is not good.  the bright ring means the tumor is encapsulated and self contained.  The radiation neurologist thinks that from the radiation treatment caused the bright rings, but since there wasn’t an mri just before I began treatment (the mri I had immediately after my surgery doesn't count’).

The smaller tumor the neurosurgeon took samples from still has a bright ring around it.

The other neurologist I saw yesterday(she is the quarterback of my team of 4 neurologists).  She agrees with the radiation neurologist.  The changes are probably treatment related.
