Aunts are the Best!

Zack’s surgery went well yesterday and he is at home recovering.  The visitor policy at the VA is very restrictive so no one was allowed to be with him until pick-up.  Luckily, Aunt Sarah works there and was able to sneak in some visits and keep the whole family updated.  His scars will not be as impressive as Levi’s so although he’s tough, Levi is still tougher.  

Because Zack needed some extra help from Beth at home, Levi had a special surprise and got to have a slumber party with Aunt Brandy.  They had a great time reading books, listening to baby shark, and holding hands.  Aunt Brandy also decided to fill in for the physical therapy team as they do not come by on weekends.  Levi did a great job sitting up and eventually forgave Aunt Brandy for making him work so hard.

The start of the day has been good.  He had a blessing from the Fr. Tim and took another two licks of a popsicle. He is getting medicine to increase his cell counts in preparation for stem cell harvesting on Monday.  This medicine can make your bones hurt so finding comfy positions has been a little harder, but he’s switching sides on his own when he wants.   Tomorrow will be a big day and unfortunately requires that he goes back to the PICU and be put back on the breathing machine during the harvesting procedure.  We’re hoping that this lasts only a few hours so he can get back to the progress he’s been making.  Go Levi go!
