On Friday, November 1, 2019, Chad Matthew Price, loving husband of Aja and stepfather to Camille Akers, passed away at age 42 after a fierce battle with cancer.
Chad was born in Columbus Ohio on September 21, 1977 to his incredible parents Jim and Monica (Podbeilski) Price. He graduated from London High School in 1996 and attended The Ohio State University. Chad worked in London, Ohio for the Greenskeeper Sales & Service. He married the love of his life Aja (Wilson) Price on December 13, 2014 and lived in Grandview, Ohio.
Chad will always be remembered for his extraordinary, ear-to-ear smile and a laugh that warmed so many hearts.
Chad’s courage and strength came from his love of his wife, daughter, family and friends, the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Indians, The Ohio State University football, water-skiing, snow skiing and having fun. Chad attended 188 Cleveland Brown’s games which demonstrates his strength, courage and unwavering positivity. His uplifting personality was inspiring to many.
Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents Walter and Helen Podbeilski and Lowell and Jean Price. He is survived by his loving wife, Aja, his stepdaughter Camille, his parents Jim and Monica Price, his sister Holly Hunt, brother-in-law James Hunt, aunts and uncles, several adoring nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 9, 2019 in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main Street, London. Interment will follow in Deercreek Township Cemetery, Lafayette. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-8 PM Friday.

Hello Everyone.

It is with a broken heart and great sadness that I must announce to you all that we have lost our beloved Chad. He fought the good fight for a long time but no longer had the strength to keep going and therefore began his final rest last night at 9:38 pm. I never left his side and can tell you that he smiled that famous Chad Price smile right up until the very end. Once arrangements have been made the information will be shared here along with numerous other outlets. On behalf of Chad, myself and our entire family I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your never-ending support and love. [...]

Chad has shown some recent improvement with sodium levels. He has been through a lot these past few days, and the medical team suggested that he focus on getting better. They recommended limiting visitors to immediate family over the next few days. We appreciate your respect of this request.

Once again I have the task of writing a not so encouraging update. Over the last 4 days since you last heard from me there have been no positive changes in Chad's condition. He has continued to measure in the same range in all categories, going up a few points then down a few points on repeat with no improvement on any front.[...]

I had hoped that my next update would be filled with rosy language describing just how much Chad had improved since he entered the hospital but sadly that will not be the case. Chad is still an inpatient at The James and there is no time frame for his release. The ascites is wreaking havoc on Chad's body and there have been no improvements in any of the areas that are being monitored, in fact all areas are declining and each day there seems to be a new area of concern. I will give you a cheat sheet of the main issues that we are dealing with here.[...]

I apologize for the lack of details with what's happening with Chad, I am aware that it is causing a lot of anxiety and extra worry for some of you. I ask for your understanding and patience as we are trying the best that we can to get information to you but as some of you may know, getting information in a hospital is not always easy, there is an extensive amount of wait time for everything. Please trust in us and know that if we haven't shared an update here it is because we simply don't have one. I try very hard to be prompt and give as many details as I can here but there are times when it is just out of my control and this is one of those times.[...]

This afternoon Chad had a lot of fluid removed from his abdominal area. He felt instantly better and is resting. He may be released later this week from the hospital. Thanks for all of your calls and texts. Please check this website for more information and updates.  [...]

Yesterday Chad was advised by his doctor to go to the emergency room because of significant discomfort from abdominal distention. Twenty-five hours later, he was able to get into a hospital room at the James and is scheduled for a procedure to remove the fluid from his abdomen early next week. We will keep you updated when more information is available.

Happy Friday Family & Friends!

Chad received his 13th chemotherapy infusion this week. A change was made to his regimen and he didn't receive the full FOLFOX this time around. The neuropathy that Chad has been experiencing did not improve and in fact worsened in some ways. Previously the cold sensitivity was most bothersome during and immediately after his infusions but recently it has stayed beyond that and did not go away at all after the previous infusion. The numbness in his feet also dd not improve like we hoped that it would so it was decided to remove the oxaliplatin from his treatment plan. There is a fear that permanent nerve damage could result from prolonged use of oxaliplatin and since Chad has been on it for 7 months and is experiencing heightened side effects it is in his best interest to discontinue it's use. We will see the oncologist in 10 days and discuss the new treatment plan. We are not sure if Chad is just on a break from oxaliplatin or if it is a permanent stoppage but we'll know more soon. Chad did receive his fluorouracil through his pump at home as usual. [...]
