Less than 4 weeks ago, I didn't know there was a tumor.
And hot damn tamale, now there isn't one.
In it’s place are 2 battle scars and a palette of bruises
even a mantis shrimp would appreciate*
(Find an excellent podcast explaining this here)
Able to catch my breath, here are
6 P's that got me through those weeks.
Should you ever get the call,
POSSE
Get one. Tell them. Embrace them. Let them help you. And feed you
PLAYLIST
A bitchin soundtrack is vital when your chutzpah is running low.
PEDICURE
As the news sets in, you spend a lot of time elbows on knees, looking down at your feet.
Make your toes look good. Should you need a boobicure, Eliza is your gal.
PREP
Put the nervous energy to good use, and get the house ready while you feel good.
Put systems in place. Put the ingredients for cancer smoothies in bags. Make healthy food pretty. And for god’s sake, get caught up on laundry.
PURGE
Essential part of prep. You sure as hell don’t need cancer. You probably don’t need 16 mugs, 3 bottles of cocktail sauce or clothes that are too small. Make room for only the good stuff.
PERSONALIZE
Show your cancer who’s boss. Name your cancer. Brand your brood.
If you don't have the fine fortune of being surrounded by brilliant creative souls,
feel free to borrow the Boobie Brigade brand.
Cancer is a team sport.
Now comes the 7th P --
PATIENCE
Oct 16th we meet with our oncologist to start the "let's make the fuck sure we don't go through this again" phase.
Until then, gradually become boring in the eyes of the mantis shrimp. Make Brigade gear.
Keep pounding through rewatch of Game Of Thrones. And unapologetic naps.
Thank you all for the love, support, food, goodies and general excellence in humaning.
I couldn't do this without you.
Love, Ginnie
PS: Fuck cancer
