Jake has now been at the Red Wing Health Care Facility for two weeks, and he has made great progress in this transitional care unit.  Within five days at this new location two out of his three braces were removed and they have progressed greatly with PT/OT/Speech and Recreational Therapy. As you can see from the photo gallery section on the Post Hope site,  Jake's PT accomplishments are making great strides. OT is working closely with him - with range of motion in his left arm and hand as he has about 50% functionalty wirh it, and working on daily life skills of dressing himself and daily hygiene, sequencing of step by step procedures for keeping himself safe, and good decision making choices. Speech is working on comprehensions skills, sequencing of playback of stories told, and regaining memories. Recreational Therapy allows for him to join in on a group social setting to venture out into the community, play games, trivia, ice cream socials, etc. And the Nero Doctor is working closely motitoring Jacob on his TBI condition. Jake has definite long term and short term memory losses and needs repeated instructions and reinforcement to guide him with daily living skills and activities that come second nature to all of us. This is why Jake will have 100% support from Jeff and I to help aid in his continued TBI and PT/OT healing and guidance towards a life of independence.

Jeff and I are very thankful for the support from all of you as readers of this Post Hope site, and especially from our family, where Ryan, Krissy, grand-daughter Maddy Ann, Darin and Jemma come up to visit frequently and support Jacob.  His closest High School friends of Jake E., Shane L., Kevin B., and Devon have also been very supportive- amongst many, many other close friends. We can not wait for the day we can bring him home to gather with our family and his closest friends to celebrate a new beginning and start a new chapter in his life.

Hi Naomi, I continue to keep Jake and your family in my thoughts and send positive vibes his way since hearing of his accident. I have a special place for Jake in my heart as he made an impression on me my first year teaching as being one of my "art room helpers". I remember Jake coming in and wiping down my counters during recess and telling me mostly about his uncle and his love for music. Sounds like he is exactly where he belongs and with exactly who supports him and loves him most. Please tell him an old elementary teacher is praying for him!! Krista Beron

It's so wonderful to hear of Jake's continual progress. I shall share with Dan Morris and Teresa Yohon also. My church and I are continuing to pray. Please pray for my Katie. Her little baby is soon to arrive. We are excited and yet still alittle scared because of all she went through. Just asking for your prayers as well.
