December 22 - Jake's Progress and a Special Thank You To All of You For Supporting and Encouraging Our Family!

Season Greetings,

Here is an update on Jake's progress over the last 8 months. A very special thank you to all of you for supporting Jake through hand written letters and cards of encouragement, electronic reflections on his Post Hope site, monetary donations to purchase the adjustable Serta bed to accommodate to his physical needs, and positive words of hope to believe in our son and our family to help us stay strong to support Jake through this life changing event. We wish each of you a happy and healthy New Year!

Please feel free to still send cards to Jake at our home address provided below. He really enjoys receiving mail or electronic updates on this Post Hope page to stay connected with everyone. He will especially need your encouragement and support these next 12 weeks as he has an upcoming foot and ankle surgery scheduled after the first of the year. He will be in the hospital for five days and will be laid up for an additional 8 weeks, and will not be able to participate in PT/OT at Gundersen Healthcare in Lacrosse, WI or even walk on the operated foot/ankle. So keep those cards coming to keep his spirits lifted high and stay positive and upbeat over the long MN winter months. Thanks to you all once again for believing in family!!

Robin and Jan- It was many months before we even got a glimpse of that smile from Jake, but once at Bethesda in MN they got him talking once again and then the smiles came, and then his sight came back. He is very much an auditory learner now due to the length of the coma and loss of his eye sight for 5 months, and relied solely on his hearing for so long. We are thankful for the eye site he has recovered and he is coping very well with the limited vision in his left eye. Thanks for the kind words!
