Home Sweet Home
My parents came and picked me up yesterday, I wish I had a photo of my loaded down camping wagon. My dad brought bungees so he would only have to make one trip, and during my dangle time prior, I worked on packing everything in and balancing a bunch on top.
Everything looks so green - and red, purple, and yellow here in northeastern PA. I don’t recall ever seeing such huge blooms, especially on rhododendron bushes! Maybe I just was so happy to not be stuck in slide that I saw everything with new eyes.
My parents usually don’t make purchases on Sundays, but circumstances as they were, Mom told me to order from my favorite restaurant on the way home. So we had a Red Lobster feast when we got home.
Then last night my kids took me out for ice cream. I was able to walk up to the window and place my order and then walk over to the picnic tables without using a walker. Though my sweet son hovered next to my side the entire time.
Today I am up to a 40 minute dangle. I am intentionally setting my alarm in between dangles to make sure I am elevating over an hour in between. So many have reminded me to take it slow, so I want you to know I am being intentional about resting.
I cannot tell you how grateful I am about how quickly time has passed since I found out I had cancer — that I didn’t have to wait long for my surgeries. I can’t believe I’m home already!
Radiation will probably start in four weeks. But I’ll find out more on that when I go back to Danville for a clinic appointment next week.
I hope all of you have a lovely Memorial Day!
