Beyond Expectations Once Again!

Wanted to get out an update before it gets too late for our east coast family and friends.  Lee is in recovery and I talked to the surgeon. He was very encouraged with the procedures and said he "did a lot more work than expected but hopes it will pay big dividends".

He found much more extensive tissue damage and herniation in the areas of her previous surgery than he expected but was able to perform a "complete abdominal wall reconstruction" to get everything secured back in place.  He also found lots of adhesions, looping, and scarring in her intestines that he believes could have been contributing significantly to her bowel obstructions, distention, etc. and he was able to relieve much of those restrictions.

The bonus additional answer to prayer was that he also decided to scope her while in the OR and move her feeding tube back down in her small intestine. He hopes that relieving the downstream obstructions and resulting back pressure may allow the feeding tube to stay in place more reliably.

It sounds likely that she'll feel like she's been kicked multiple times by a horse and the surgeon anticipates keeping her "through the weekend" to rest and recover, but he is very hopeful that she will see a significant improvement overall.  I'll update sometime over the weekend when I know how she is tolerating all the repairs.

Once again, thanks so much for your prayers!!  We are always humbled and blessed to see them answered beyond all we could ask or imagine.

Steve
