Written Order received!

We received great news on Tuesday morning that we had received our written adoption order!! This step was supposed to only take 1-2 weeks, but it came 3 ½ weeks after our virtual hearing. This has been the hardest part of all the waiting thus far, knowing that we are SO close to travel. And while we kept saying that receiving the adoption order was our indication to buy tickets, we were wrong. We forgot that first we need a birth certificate produced. This is usually issued within a week. Usually… But we are grateful and excited to have one more step complete. Travel is on the horizon!

As I carefully read through the adoption order, grateful to find Evelyn’s name spelled and presented correctly, I found the line “David & Kelsey shall become the parents of the child as if the child had been born to the adoptive parents, for all purposes…” It reminds me of the complete adoption by God offered to us through Jesus. When we trust in Jesus it’s not that we belong to him from here on out, but that the whole story of our past is rewritten into his story. 1 John makes sense to use the language to describe believers as those “born of God.” It’s as if, for all purposes, God is our Father.

This is all so exciting for you; especially knowing how you rely on God and his good purpose for your life. I have a granddaughter who has been such a big part of my life for 18 years and she was and has been a total gift from God. Brought into our family as a newborn and final closed adoption took place 90 days later. God is sooooo good!
