Bold Ask - NO discomfort!

I've been low man on the totem pole at work until Jeff's arrival last week.  Now he is low man.

Jeff just marked his 50th year at nearby Brightmoor Church.  Sitting at lunch with him yesterday, he shared about a friend who was prayed over going into cancer treatment including, chemo, etc., the works, like Cindy. Don't recall Jeff's friend's  name. Let's go with Bill

During that prayer, someone pronounced, "Bill, you will experience no discomfort from any of your treatment."  So Bill refused the anti-nausea meds against doctor's orders and wha-lah (did I spell that right?), the word was fulfilled! Through several rounds of chemo, no discomfort whatsoever.  Bill eventually achieved remission and is still well today many years later.

My response to "Low man Jeff" (sorry, just feels good to write that) was, "Awesome but the Lord works differently in each of us." Jeff's response, "But we can always count on this prayer, 'Thy will be done.'"  (To which I just can't help myself from adding, "On earth as it is in heaven." )

Well, we've had a word from the Lord but not about 'no discomfort." On 1/23, the day after Cindy was diagnosed, I ran across the voicemail I had not noticed from a Grace Chapel friend, Helene Foster.  Helene's stunning message was that when she heard about Cindy, she went immediately to her "prayer closet" to launch her usual ritual - 1) Praise God than 2) pray for others, this time for Cindy.

As she got going, she said God interrupted with this message: "Helene, just go ahead and praise me because I've already heard from Glenn.  Let Glenn know I've already granted his request so now just go ahead and praise me."

I must have replayed her voicemail five times before sharing it along to a bunch of folks at Grace. When I spoke to Helene a few days later, I couldn't fix on what I had requested from the Lord that he has already granted. Could "No discomfort" be it?

You know the Lord is always present so last week and today are the same for him, right?  So I'm putting this out to our fellow prayer worriers: 1) That Cindy experiences no discomfort during these treatments but even if she does, we are letting the Lord know that our primary desire is to accept and celebrate 2) "His will be done!"

I'm reminded of Jesus praying to God in the Garden of Gethsemane that he not have to endure the suffering of the cross while also adding, "Thy will be done."  (See Luke 22: 41-43).  We know how God answered Jesus' prayer - with strength to endure vs. deliverance from the suffering of the cross.

Jesus might have suspected God's answer before he prayed, but he prayed it anyway and so can we. Include, "Thy will be done," to accept without reservation  God's answer, whatever it is, and commit to praising him just the same because we know he not only walks with us in our suffering but also redeems our suffering in ways that are beyond our understanding.

So, how about it? Dare to join me in this prayer?

P.S. Cindy's already receiving anti-nausea meds so we can deploy both medicine AND miracles here. Lucky us!

Yes, Glenn. I am praying for no negative side effects for Cindy. But always in accordance with His will being done and His Name being glorified. What joy we have being His children!

Amen!! We are praying No Discomfort! Total healing! All for His Glory and done by Him using whatever method He chooses...I imagine the lives of every medical care giver and His tapestry of connections led each one to where they are today now caring for Cindy! Literally it’s too magnificent for our puny minds to even conceive but that’s so awesome because it reminds us of just how magnificent and powerful He is to provide for our every need! Plus, He loves us so much more than we can conceive the meaning of what love truly is. He died so we could live. By His stripes, Cindy is healed! And healed with No discomfort and no loss of her awesome personality that will turn anything into laughter!! (Hey I believe laughter is said to be the best medicine! Prov 17:22) Far beyond what I could convey on the truth of the Word of God and why/what Jesus did for us on the Cross was all explained in the devotional I just read. So, I wanted to share it here because it goes so supportive to Glenn’s prayer request! By Jesus’ Stripes You Are Healed Day 27 Isaiah 53:5 5… The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. You know, one of the biggest outcries against Mel Gibson’s movie, The Passion Of The Christ, was that it was too violent, especially the part where Jesus was scourged. Let me tell you this: It was not violent enough! The Bible says that at the cross, Jesus’ visage was marred beyond that of any man. (Isaiah 52:14) In the movie, even after all the beatings, the actor James Caviezel, who played Jesus, still looked quite handsome. But the reality is that when Jesus hung on the cross, He had “no form or comeliness… there is no beauty that we should desire Him”. (Isaiah 53:2) He was beaten to a pulp until His face looked like jelly hanging out! In the movie, when they scourged Him, only a small portion of His bones was exposed, so it was still quite tidy. But the messianic psalms say, “The plowers plowed on my back; they made their furrows long” (Psalm 129:3), and “I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me”. (Psalm 22:17) All His bones were exposed! My friend, He was thinking of you when the soldiers tied Him to the scourging post. As they raised their whips, He said, “Let it all come on Me!” But what came on Him was not just the whip stripping the flesh off His bare back, but your sicknesses and diseases. Each time He was whipped, every form of sickness and disease, including arthritis, cancer, diabetes, bird flu and dengue fever, came upon Him. “The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” Today, healing is your right because Jesus has paid the price for your healing. So if the devil says, “You cannot be healed,” just declare, “Jesus has paid for my healing. Disease has no right to be in my body. I am healed in Jesus’ name!” Every curse of sickness that was supposed to fall on you fell on Jesus instead. He bore every one of those stripes, so that you can walk in divine health all the days of your life. The price has been paid so that you can rise up and get out of your bed of affliction! Thought For The Day Healing is your right because Jesus has paid the price for your healing.
