New "Do!"
While Cindy continues to feel more than a bit “tapped out” today, she welcomed premier hairdresser, “Neil Patrick” to give her a new, close-cropped hairdo as Mary and I looked on. The man has a gift. Cindy looked so relaxed as Neil lovingly worked his magic on her weary head.
Afterwards, she expressed her gratitude for Neil’s soothing attention and declared she felt a whole lot better already. Tapping into the positive energy, she lead us all on a loop around the floor.
As we prepared to leave, I offered a prayer with a story from Mark’s Gospel in mind. Chapter 9 recounts how Jesus succeeded where his apostles earlier failed to heal a boy suffering from an “unclean spirit.” (See Mark 9: 14-29). Later, the apostles asked Jesus, “Why could we not cast it out?” Jesus replied: “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer." (Mark 9: 28-29)
While we entrust Cindy’s treatment to the kind and capable professionals at Beaumont Hospital, we trust most in God to orchestrate, direct and blend medical, medicine and miracle on Cindy’s behalf. We believe prayer is how God involves us in this grand effort.
Thanks to everyone for your prayer support.

Dear Cindy and Glenn ~ Boy, did I think of you two at Mass tonight! The Gospel reading was Luke 5:1-11. Jesus instructed Paul to "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." This, of course, made no sense to a knowledgeable and experienced fisherman, especially since he and his crew hadn't caught anything all night and EVERYONE knows (except Glenn and Craig) that you don't catch much during the day. "But because you say so ..." they did as he instructed and to their surprise, loaded the nets to their breaking point. In fact, Paul likely needed LOTS of help hauling the fish into the boat. Sound familiar? To me, this spoke to the confusion that God's plan for us sometimes creates. Why, Lord, we ask. But as we place our trust in Him, he reveals his plan for us, whether or not it makes sense. And by the way, He's also in the boat with us :) Our accompanying hymn: "Here I am, Lord, I come to do your will." Bless you both for trusting the will of God. For "pulling up your boats ... leaving everything, and following Him." He's got this!! And you do, too. Cindy, I'll bet you're rocking the Halle Berry haircut! Bless Neil for his tender care.
Oh, Lori. Good share,
I bet C is rocking the sassy hairdo. Hang in there! 🙏❤️
I somehow managed to delete this comment received from Jan and Brian Ratliff... "Doc in Altum. "Into the deep" and Jesus reminds us "do not be afraid" ... and they followed Him. Prayers from Moeraki, New Zealand." ... to which I tried to reply: "We've got the world covered now."
Brian and my sister Jan are touring New Zealand in a motorhome, negotiating in the left-hand lane no less.
The chorus from the song "In the eye of the storm": In the eye of the storm, You remain in control. And in the middle of the war, You guard my soul. You alone are the anchor, when my sails are torn. Your love surrounds me in the eye of the storm. Cindy and Glenn, you model so well what it means to wait while being in the eye of the storm. You are showing people how to live out Habakkuk 3:17-18. We are privileged to call you friends and are praying every day for you.
Such kind, soothing sentiment. Having so, so many faithful, loyal, loving, supportive people walk life out with us fortifies our strength and our resolve to face and accept what the Lord lets through to us.
I am reminded again of Mark 4:35 when Jesus declares even before they get in the boats - "Let US go to the other side". And then He got in the boat with them. Victory is in the voice of Jesus, even though the disciples didn't know the details of what lay ahead! Trust His Holy Name and His direction!
Indeed. Most times, Jesus is rowing so I can use both hands to stay in the boat!
Wow! These comments are awesome and I couldn't say anything better! You are both on our minds, in our hearts, and in our prayers. Cindy - you are incredible and I admire you so much! Glenn - you are showing the world what a Godly husband looks like. Hugs! Karol
Cindy and I are"attending" the Grace Chapel service from her hospital room via live streaming this morning (2/10). Thanks to Ron Webber to take lead to make this happen. Not same as being there but it's pretty darn good
Love that you were "with" us this morning!!!
It's a source of awe and joy to me, the caliber of people you've gathered into Cindy's village. Thoughtful, faithful, loyal and loving. No surprise - what we sew, we reap, and you have sewn in fertile soil! (Galatians, 6:7). Blessings and prayers to you both!
