God's Ways Are Not Our Ways- They Are Infinitely Better

To My Cherished Friends of the Faith-

Since my last update, Glen and I have been enjoying our time together walking on the beach at Park Point, hiking the Superior trails, biking on Skyline Drive, and taking a lot of road trips up the shore. Our most recent travel included a trip to the Mayo Clinic. On Thursday I had tests in the morning followed by a late afternoon office visit with my oncologist Dr. Block. As you know, my cancer is aggressive and after the first three months of chemo the tumors did not respond to the harsh treatments, in fact they became what's called "platinum resistant." According to statistics and I quote: "Platinum resistant ovarian cancer has a median survival of 9-12 months and less than 15% respond to subsequent chemotherapy." In January, I was given the "subsequent chemotherapy." I risked everything on God and went forward in faith. After taking this secondary chemo for three months (Jan-Mar), I was reevaluated by Dr. Block yesterday and what he had to say let me know that my God is taking excellent care of me and watching over every detail of my life with the utmost care. Not only had the tumors shrunk, but there was also no spreading of the disease. Even Dr. Block was surprised and "pleased overall" with how things are going so I will continue with the secondary chemo for three more months. Glen and I were also very surprised to know that God chose to use the inferior method of treatment, which only had a small chance of working. But isn't that exactly the way God does things so that all the glory goes to Him?! His strength becomes most obvious when everything seems against us. For His power shows up best when all appears to be hopeless.
And isn't that what Easter is all about as well?! When Jesus was hanging on the cross it looked like all hope was lost, but then on the third day God Almighty raised Him from the dead bringing hope and salvation to those who would believe on His name. And because Jesus lives, we can live in victory by His power.
Dear Friends, though it is not possible to celebrate together at church this Easter Sunday, we are together in heart and in spirit, united by the blood of Jesus Christ. As sisters and brothers in Christ we are a blessed society who share sweet fellowship with the living, risen Savior and with each other. And because Jesus is triumphant, we also triumph in victory over darkness and death. We owe all praise and thanksgiving to our Great God and Savior. How can we thank Him enough for the great things He has done?[...]
