The Perfect Day

🌅Cindy entered the perfect day on 12/24/2020.  Maybe you didn’t realize her name means “Bringer of Light,” and that is why she loves this verse from Proverbs 4:18:[...]

Fellowship and Coffee

Some of my most memorable moments along this journey were the times we leisurely spent together sharing the joyous things of Christ and sipping coffee. You gave of yourself just to sit with me and it meant so much. It was as if you were saying: “You’re worth having coffee with.” And I needed your face-to-face company. [...]

GRACE

Haley my nurse scurried into my chemo room. Earlier in the day she started my IV bag of immunotherapy. Thinking a lot about grace, I announced, “Haley, do you know what the word grace means?” Caught off guard, she looked at me surprisingly and replied, “It means gift.” I pointed to the IV bag and said: “Have you ever thought about the fact that Merck the big drug company is paying $30,000 for every treatment and all I must do is receive it into my arm. I don’t deserve it. I didn’t earn it and I can never repay the company.” I explained further how that’s why Jesus came to this earth. We had a disease called sin  we could never rid on our own. We needed a Saviour who would pay our sin debt full and free. So a Redeemer came, took our place and removed our sins.  Now, if we receive His payment we are given forgiveness of sin and a place in Heaven. Excitedly, she responded, “I get it.”[...]

No Partiality

When I went for a chemo appt. in the beginning of June, tensions were high everywhere after the “George Floyd” incident.  My nurse walked in the room and I excitedly said: “Barbara, are you my nurse today?” I had known Barbara from the times before when I had allergic reactions. She is a well-seasoned nurse and was part of the group who stabilized my body after shock. But she was never my personal nurse. [...]

Why All the Journaling's at Once?

🎄Hello Friends! I hope you are enjoying this wonderful time of the year. Christmas is filled with so much depth and meaning. Take it all in. I know you’re busy shopping for others and I love that about Christmas. Jesus gave and left us an example how to give freely. It’s such a good feeling to put joy into someone else’s life. “And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” I pray you truly enjoy worshipping the Savior and the giving of yourself to Him and to others.[...]

A Privilege Pass

One day this fall, I was going through papers and noted some belonged to Sam. I gathered them together and brought them downstairs. Upon entering his room, my eye's caught sight of his MN state hockey pass. I took it off the hook and put it around my neck. Then I started to think about the many privileges and places he entered for free because he had this pass around his neck. The biggest privilege was playing the best single A teams in the state with thousands of spectators. [...]

Will I Go?

Friends, have you noticed many events about to occur in our lives, God chooses not disclose beforehand. We “think it strange" when trials come upon us, and usually need time to adjust to our new path. I often wonder if God told me about my cancer before it appeared in my body, would I accept His special mission, even if it meant loss of health? I know my heart, and that’s exactly why He waited. I needed to be ready to receive His work. [...]

I’ve Been Drafted

Dear Friends, a few years ago I remember having a conversation with my friend Lisa after church one Sunday. At the time she was going through chemo treatment for breast cancer. Trying to make sense of it all and accept the journey God designated, she sighed and remarked: "1 in 7 women receive a diagnosis for breast cancer. I'm the one out of 7."[...]
