They’re HOME

It’s been a whirlwind around here the past two days! Elliott came home yesterday afternoon. They were welcomed by banners, balloons and signs. Most importantly Elliott got to meet Bentley- who was very curious about this new member of the family, and was very gentle in his greeting.[...]

All the time God is good!

Our mighty warrior has been hard at work these past two days! We continue to watch miracles unfold with his rapid progress that is so pleasing to his doctors and nurses. Two days ago Elliott‘s nasal cannula for the oxygen was removed as well as his feeding tube. He even got his first bath last night! He’s down to three leads to track his heart rate and an oxygen monitor on his foot! His nutrition is all Momma now- either direct from the source or by bottle - depending on how tired he is. The goals are gain weight and stabilize his respiratory status. There are a list of criteria Elliott must meet before getting to go home- the fact that is being addressed within two weeks of life with the start he had is indeed miraculous. [...]

A day of rest

Today has been a quiet kind of day. Elliott needed a day of calm. Sometimes it’s hard work being a miracle child of God! Physical therapy came by today and he had an early morning work out. Following such a landmark busy day yesterday, he was pooped and fussy after PT. So today his room has been quieter and he’s been sleeping and gaining strength.... a day to help re-build his reserves. His oxygen needs continue to fluctuate; some medications are being changed; his tube feedings are increasing in volume; and following his last dose of antibiotics this evening the plan is to remove his long IV line. We’ll take quiet days. As many as he needs to reach his potential and fulfill God’s plan.... your prayers help us all. He continues to improve and we gain such comfort and strength from not only your prayers but also your comments. Thank you![...]

WOW

This child continues to amaze all of us! He has lost more of his excess fluid weight and continues to get stronger every hour. Today he weighed 6lb2; down from over 7lbs.   His blood counts are stabilizing. He’s doing so well they are letting Jacy nurse him twice today. Yesterday we thought that was still several days away. He still has oxygen in his nose, a feeding tube in his throat, a long IV in his left arm, heart leads on his chest and an oxygen monitor on his foot. Seven wires left to go! (Those first days while being cooled he had 39!)  Jacy and Nathan were cautioned it might take some training to get him to breast feed - nope. At least not this first time- he took to it like a champ! We continue to be patient and are grateful for every step forward. Our warrior continues to defy the odds! Please continue to pray and rejoice with us![...]

It’s a two HALLELUJAH kind of day!

We couldn’t wait to share more good news, You have all been so faithful in your prayers, we want you to be able to rejoice right along with us!  Elliott has had an eventful day. He is breathing strong on his own and is passing blood tests with flying colors. That means they were able to remove his arterial blood line that was in his umbilical cord since day one! His blood pressure stabilized prior to removing his breathing tube, so no more of that medicine. He is up to 23cc of his momma’s milk every three hours. Right now Jacy is holding him skin to skin, which is highly healing for Elliott and his parents. Nathan’s turn next! They can now hold him as often as they want, for as long as they want! It’s doubtful the crib they brought into the room will get much use;) It’s so wonderful to have tears of joy today. We believe this child is alive because of God’s miracles and His working through others. Your prayers continue to bring Warrior Elliott healing and us great hope and peace. THANKYOU [...]

HALLELUJAH!

Today could not have started any better- Elliott had his breathing tube removed! We are so thankful for his building strength and fighting spirit. I think we all took turns crying hearing him do his little squeaks and squawks! Being off the ventilator means it will be much easier for Nathan and Jacy to hold him. We anticipate more tubes and lines will be removed in the coming days. We can be patient. God continues to work through your prayers and perform miracles on our warrior! We are so thankful for all of you and the love you are showering on their family. You too are a part of Elliott ‘s story. [...]

Today is a GREAT Day

We praise God for His faithfulness and grace! Elliott continues to respond to the excellent medical care and love he is receiving. Your prayers are helping! Today was the best report from his neonatologist who was here when he was admitted and has seen him almost every day. “This is the first day all things are coming together for him” Music to our ears!  They have started turning down his blood pressure medicine and are slowly weaning him off the vent. If all goes as planned he will be extubated tomorrow and breathing all on his own. Jacy is currently holding him with Nathan near by. He had several big poops and they've increased his feedings to 15cc every 3 hours. Jim made the warrior shirts for the grandpas last night and they walked in together with them on this morning. The kids loved them. A good laugh and light hearted moment. Keep praying! God is indeed Good and we are thankful for our warrior’s victories![...]

More good news!

Our Warrior marches on! He had no further seizure activity last night so he’s been freed from 26 of his probes and wires. The EEG is off!  We are so thankful. He remains in critical condition but he has stabilized. Praise God! He remains on the ventilator with lots of special IV lines to provide liquid, medications and nutrients. Yet more good news: he is tolerating his feedings so they have increased from 5cc to 10cc’s of his momma’s milk every 3 hours. We are being patient and letting Him work thru the medical team who have been incredible. Please continue to  pray for Elliott! God is continuing to work miracles. [...]
