Wow, thank you all so much for your messages of support! Garrett has enjoyed hearing from you all, keep the messages coming. You are all part of the healing force surrounding Garrett. Amazing things are happening! Garrett continues to improve - The doctors are very pleased with the progress that Garrett is making.
Today was a fairly uneventful day (good). Garrett began physical therapy and occupational therapy today. He still has a feeding tube, a mitt on his hand (he's become a little more accepting of it), and little to no movement on his left side. Garrett's clots are still being monitored with regular CAT scans. He is still receiving the hypertonic saline solution to prevent swelling of his brain. But he is awake, talking and would give anything for "a banana and a blue Gatorade"!
Once Garrett is off the saline solution, he will be moved out of the ICU and the doctors will begin treating the remaining clots in his brain, lungs and leg. After that, it's off to a rehab hospital. Visitation is still limited. We will let you know once Garrett is out of the ICU and visitation opens up - as there are plenty who want to stop by and see him.
In an interesting turn of events, Garrett's youngest, Regan, will be at the same hospital Monday. She will have surgery to set and recast her broken arm. So, love and well wishes to Regan! (I think Regan's secretly excited about her "big break" and being at the same hospital as Dad.)
Thank you all for your continued support. Keep the messages coming, Garrett loves to hear from you and he remembers who you all are! We will always keep you updated here.

HI we will certainly keep Garrett (and now Regan) in our prayers! I have also added you to that list. I cannot imagine the stress on your family. Tell Garrett we are definitely thinking about him and know that he will fight thru all of this. Kathy and Paul F.
Garrett! Wishing you well my friend. Let's plan on a Broncos game next time I'm in Colorado. We still have those seats in the south stands :) we can go freeze our butts off and enjoy hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps, but tell our moms it's just candy canes. We can also talk about the good ol days of playing hockey with Doug Dafoe and Jeff Martin. Good times. Recover soon. Be strong. Will be praying for you for sure! Dan Roby
Garrett, I'm sending good thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. I am glad we got to work together at the DU library. Your smile and positive attitude made a huge difference. I am thinking of you and your family. Naomi
Hi Garrett - Best wishes for your continuing recovery. Stay positive. Sending love and light your way. All the best Stori
Hi Garrett, Theresa told us about you, and we are very happy that you are on the mend! Sending lots of good thoughts your way. I know you'll have a full recovery -- it's going to be a lot of hard work but I know that you've never strayed away from hard work! Hope to you see you soon at a DU hockey game or in Library in your Sodexo shirt! -- Shannon V.
