We just got the most reassuring news yet. The trauma doctor that has been working with Stephanie since the moment she arrived at the Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, just reviewed her last ct scan and said things are looking stable, reconfirming what other metrics have been showing. This is such a relief as we head into 60+hrs post accident. If all continues to remain stable, the doctors hope to be able to start weaning her off her sedation in 3-5 day (she's currently in a medically induced comma), and hopefully very slowly start wake her. That will be a slow process & it will take time for the Steph we know to be back.
In any case, this is all hopeful! Keep your love & energy coming! We all feel it! Thank you!!!

You don't know me but I know you and all the other hundreds of thousands of bicyclists that ride 101. We're a special group of people who love the out doors, love the community we live in, love to excercise and love the energy and fulfillment we get while riding our bikes. I've lived along the beach for 30 years in Cardiff and must have ridden by the corner of Basil and 101 a million times. You don't know me but I know you and the fear that enters our minds for that split second before we put our biking shoes on and pull out if our driveways. That pause we take to send a quick prayer to that Something that will protect us and keep us safe. That feeling of "I'll be fine", "no worries", "the cars can see me". You don't know me but I know who you are and I trust in that Something that is watching over you right now. That Something special within you that fights hard and will guide you through this head injury. You may not know that right now and so it is your job to rest, heal and leave the Knowing to all your friends in our biking community and together, with that Something, will bring you back to the perfect and whole person that you are. I know this to be true.
Thank you so much for this loving comment. It is so beautifully written. Go Steph go!!!
